FULLERTON — A Fullerton man was arrested on suspicion of murder today after his 2 1/2-year-old daughter died of injuries consistent with a beating, a sergeant said.
Salvador Davila, 31, was in the Fullerton City Jail in lieu of $1 million bail, said Fullerton police Sgt. Ron Gillett.
His daughter, Miranda, died about 9 a.m. in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at UCI Medical Center of "extensive injuries suffered in what detectives described as severe physical abuse," Gillett said.
The girl's mother, Tonia Fernandez, 29, was questioned by police and released pending further investigation. The couple's three other children, aged 1 to 5, were removed from the home, he said.
Davila also has an 11-year-old son who previously was placed out of the home by court order.
Yesterday, detectives were called to Davila's apartment at 1000 E. Euclid St. by paramedics, who had gone to the apartment hotel to treat a child who had stopped breathing, Gillett said.
Miranda, who had a pulse, was first taken to Anaheim Memorial Hospital, where doctors determined she had numerous injuries to her head and other parts of her body. She was transferred to UCI, the sergeant said.
The father, a roofer, denied intentionally harming the girl, but said the injuries were caused when he shoved his son into Miranda, Gillett said.
The father could make his first court appearance on Monday.

What the hell is wrong with some people. How could a father beat a two year old child! Sometimes you wish if they have 1 child taken away they should not be allowed another until they prove they can be a good and safe parent.
I hope this "Roofer" falls all the way to Hell's pit if he's guilty. Is there even a punishment fitting for this out there? :banghead:
