Not working, or a problem on my end?
test
Hmm...just worked in IE. Wasn't working in Firefox
Just discovered another issue that works in IE, but not Firefox. Might be the new Firefox update yesterday or the day before. Or it could be the program I ran at lunch to get rid of junk files.....whoops

Make sure that any Firefox addons, like NoScript or similar, were not also updated and in need of configuration....

It is. It seems like my left button is doing double duty. I can click on "search" and it goes straight there, or click on "new posts" and it goes straight there.
If I click "quick links" the whole top bar changes what is on it. Instead of the drop down menu, the bar changes to those items. I was looking in my mouse options, but did not see anything to change the function of the left button. I know I saw that somewhere.

All the things you mentioned (single click selection, mouse functions, etc.) are controlled by your local system. We can't do anything about them from this end. Have you made any changes recently? Upgrades, update browser version, new mouse, etc.?
Which browser and version are you using?

"Upgrades, update browser version, new mouse, etc.?"
Yes, all three. (3.5.2 version)
"Might be the new Firefox update yesterday or the day before. Or it could be the program I ran at lunch to get rid of junk files.....whoops"
Plus a new mouse, but it has been a couple of weeks, and has worked fine.
I know it is on my end, that is for sure. I'll just have to figure it out, because I would like to stick with Firefox.

Removed Firefox. Reloaded Firefox 3.5.2. No luck.
Ran 2.0.0.11 install without removing 3.5.2. Broke it. Would not open at all.
Ran 3.5.2 install. It's working. Who the heck knows what it was, or why this fixed it.
Who the heck knows what it was, or why this fixed it.Yep, works

Not unusual in the world of computaments!
computament - noun, A very large and mysterious contraption which can be used to control the world as we know it. (Definition given to me by the elevator operator at a large installation in the late '60's. "So you work on that big computament they just installed?") :D

THere's a quote button...where? I was wondering why one was missing.
By the way, I'm using IE8 if that's of any importance. No add-ons with exception of some anti adware plugins. I've never had a missing function issue in any other forums however.

The quote button is in any one of the post/edit screens. Looks like this: http://www.thehighroad.org/images/editor/quote.gif

Are you saying that when you press "Post Reply" or simply use the "Quick Reply" below, you don't see the quote icon in the tools section? I'm pretty sure that isn't just an admin or mod function.

OK, so it's manual quoting (paste and tag). I thought there was an actual quote button that would do it automagically like on some boards (although I can see where it can get very annoying).
Thanks folks. Goes to show I need to explore the reply box a bit more . :)

Thanks folks. Goes to show I need to explore the reply box a bit more . Yeah, if you look back through the tech section, they did away with the quote button due to idiots quoting huge posts just to say "I agree", and then other idiots would quote the double-sized post to add their "I concur" and after a while, you'd have 37 pages with 10 or 12 actual posts (probably exaggerated).
So everything is manual.

nalioth ... and the answer to my post 15 is .... ? I see it now.
That isn't what the folks are asking about, though.
The question pertains to this: http://www.novarata.net/images/quote.gif
I personally just type out blah blah blah as that http://thehighroad.org/images/editor/quote.gif button doesn't offer any functionality toward that.

Oh, that's where the quote button went. Yes, it's pretty annoying when someone uses it en bloc.
Tip - firefox has an add-in called "Paste Quote" - you can just highlight the text you want to quote, then in the message box hit your right button, and it will give you the option to "paste quote" - it will insert the html for the quote automatically. It is very useful.
You can download it here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/244
It won't automatically attribute the quote to the author, but if you need to do that you just type the "=nalioth" after "quote" and it will automatically italicize it and provide the attribution. Very handy.

P.S. For members with spaces in their user names, use ="user name"
i.e. blah will get you: blah
THR definitely helps us with our bbcode educations :D

Yes, similar, but easier - it does it all in one stroke. So you have no need to insert both html code and then also paste in text. A little quicker and handier. The firefox add-in does it all at once, code and text in proper alignment.
Plus, you can use it on other forums that don't have the "quote" feature as ready to hand. The THR system works well, this is just a simpler shortcut available to Firefox users, and also works on all bb/forum systems with compatible code.

My quote button is working. Has all along except when it and the smileys quit working suddenly. All I have to do is copy and paste the text, highlight it, and hit the quote button. Bingo, it provides the xyx needed, as I did right now, or bingo :),a smiley face.
Why it quit working, along with the other left click symptoms, and started working again, I have no clue.
I still haven't figured out the other thing (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=469442).

I still think you had a JavaScript problem, but don't now.
I still haven't figured out the other thing. Why not? My explanation was exceedingly thorough! ;)
If you're talking about your test post in the Testing forum, you used a post number of 335785538. Assuming members continue to post at the current rate for a good while longer, I figure that post number will be valid sometime around the year 2379!
IOW, you used an invalid post number.

I am sure it is me. :D
but the left click smiley, quote, etc is doing it again this AM. :banghead:
Anything to do with the upgrade, or my puter just being contrary this morning. I had to use IE to post with a pic. The download pics option wasn't even there with Firefox, along with the other problems..

When it's not working in Firefox, go into Tools -> Options -> Content and note the state of "Enable JavaScript" and "Enable Java", just for the sake of my curiosity.
Walkalong

I did not do anything. Went to the range, came home, logged on, everything works in Firefox. :scrutiny:
I did check that last week or so when it was not working (on advise here), and java script was enabled.
Just checked again for my own curiosity, and "enable java" is checked.
