The NAA mini scores again!!!!!!

:D I was chattin' on another board when I heard a bang under my kitchen cabinet. A possum has been hanging out around the house and getting in through a hole where the drain exits under the house. So, I eased in there with my watch cat following. He heard it, too. The NAA was in my left side pocket where it resides 24/7 as back up. flipped it out of its holster grip and opened the door, point blank shot in the face, another notch to carve on the grip. Hell, I'm runnin' out of space for notches! You may recall I posted last week about a nutria I shot at 15 yards on the river with it. I'm gettin' pretty good with it, thinkin' about mounting a scope. LOL! Kit gun? I don't need no stinkin' kit gun!:neener:
But, I guess it's the deal, a gun in your pocket is better than one in the safe and I always have this thing. That is the value of the NAA, one of the most useful handguns I own. It's taken possums, a feral dog, a few rats, a couple of rattle snakes, a few rabbits, it's just always with me for targets of opportunity and it's more accurate than one would think, capable of head shots on a dog at near 25 yards, for instance or shooting the head off a snake at 6-10 feet or poppin' a rabbit or nutria at 15 yards.

Good shootin'!
And yep, the gun you always have with you is the one that'll be there when you need it.

Oh, come on...not sure you need a scope for those ranges. Just mount a laser :)

1 5/8" .22LR with a holster grip. It's got a little cosmetic wear cause I've been totin' this thing for 25 years. I bought it back before I could get a CCW and legally carry, was tiny and better'n a knife hands down. :D Now, I can and do legally carry concealed and have a 9 or a .38 on me, so this is my back up last ditch. The good thing is, I have it sighted properly for the loads I shoot and have confidence in being able to hit at pretty close range since I've been shooting it for so long and using it for such pest control. The down side to it is it don't point shoot for squat, but at 3 feet under a kitchen cabinet, it works, LOL.

25 yards?
You are the man, no question. I've got a 1 5/8" .22 mag.
I can put it in the black in a standard silhoutte at 7 yards, but hitting a dog at 75 feet? or a rabbit at 45-50 feet?
that is awesome.

The little gun is very picky about ammo. Some, like the stinger, actually keyholes. It's not really good with mini mag or any CCI stuff, either. But, with Federal Lightening bulk pack I can put 'em all on a rabbit sized target at 25 to 50 feet no problem. That feral dog was a little bit of luck cause I normally can only keep 'em on a paper plate at that range and he was facing me drooling and growling. All I had was a head shot on him and managed to put it on his head which was half the size of a paper plate. It takes lots of concentration cause the sights are so minimal and the sight radius is pathetic, but it can be done. I had to file the front sight down, too, to regulate it to the load. It hit way low originally.
In low light when you can't get a good view of the front sight, I have problems hitting anything past 10 feet, LOL, but in good light it's not that hard. The little thing is so short that it's neigh on impossible to point shoot past a couple of feet or so, no reference on the barrel for me as my hand is in the way and it doesn't point that well from a low position. Any error at all is magnified by the short length of the gun. It does have it's limitations, but is a very useful gun just because it's always there when I need it, if nothing else.
I think the whole secret to getting a mini revolver to shoot as best as you can shoot it is to find the ammo it likes and then get the sights regulated to it. Once you get that figured out, stick with that ammo and it works great. I kinda want a .22 mag/LR model, dual cylinder with bigger sights, perhaps ajustable, like maybe the Black Widow. But, I think a mini master might be way cool, especially with a holster grip on it. Probably wouldn't be as good a 24/7 gun, though. In .22 mag with the longer barrel, it'd almost be a viable self defense revolver, but I'm better off with my 9mm or .38 in that roll. LOL I often think it might be almost as effective as .380 and certainly I'd take that combination to a .32ACP.

I recently bought the 1-5/8" .22LR/.22WMR version. So far, I've put about 50 rounds through it, mostly .22 Magnum, and I can't hit a THING. I've tried different holds on the tiny grip, different ways of aiming with that stupid shark fin front sight, and so far, I can't reliably hit anything outside of about a 5 yard distance. I need to definitely spend more time with it, and possibly file down the front sight, because at this time, I wouldn't be confident hitting anything beyond contact distance. But, aside from all that, it is insanely small and concealable, and will serve as a good backup once I get some more practice.
Does anyone have any experience with the boot grips that NAA advertises on their sight? It looks like they add about 1/4" length to the grip. I'm thinking that even 1/4" would help when shooting those frisky .22 Magnums.

The folding holster grip is my favorite way to go for concealment and shooting grip.

I have mention my NAA .22lr several times in the past it is a 1-1/8 now days really wish I would of got the one with the little longer barrel but I just don't think the extra lenght is worth selling the one I have and getting another but do anyone think the extra 1/2" make that big of a diffence? I don't use it for pest control just carry it now when in the yard doing work and don't want to carry anything bigger but does go to the store with me sometimes when I'm too lazy to go back in the house and get a bigger weapon.

Nah, ain't worth trading for a half inch or so of barrel IMHO. I'm not going to sell mine regardless even if I get another. Ain't nothin' says I can't have two. :D I've had the hots for a mini master for a long time. I want the mag/LR cylinders and adjustable sights and I will put a holster/grip on it. It will be an outdoor kit gun carry for fishing and such. I do a lot of fishing out of my boat and wading off my kayak and these little guns I can clip to the top of my shirt to keep 'em from getting wet wade fishing, which is handy. I would also use it with the LR cylinder just for plinking. Out of a 4" barrel, though, the .22 mag has a significant more punch than my little LR version and is almost a viable carry, as good as a .32 ACP IMHO. I just think it's a gun I would really use, not just a carry.
I'd been thinkin' of getting a Ruger LCP to fill the tiny carry niche, but I think I'd rather have a mini master even if it's rather longish. With the holster grip, I can clip it to the shirt for fishing, carry it IWB clipped to the belt if my pockets aren't deep enough, clip it to the top of a boot, lots of options. But, I ain't sellin' my little gun for it. The little gun is just too handy.

Bought a North American Arms Black Widow in the .22 magnum flavor, and 150rounds. Put 50 rounds through it. The gun is easy to shoot well at contact distances (3 yards or less), light and very well made. I can fire all five rounds into COM in about 3 seconds with the single action trigger.
Its going to become my new everyday carry gun, after I run another 100 rounds or so through it.
Picked it up for $295 with the ammo and tax.
It is what it is. A highly concealable, high quality backup gun that should be adequate for defensive purposes. The mini-revolver you have in your pocket is way better than the Glock (in my case) sitting in the car or at home.

Death finds another critter at MCgunners. North American Arms should give you an endorsement for all the varmints you've dispatched with that thing. :)
Good shootin'.

I loved my little 22Mag. Sadly sold it a year back or so. Here's a target I shot at 7 yards or so with 15 rounds. 14 on the target. One shot, I have no idea what happened. :)

Sounds like you're deadly with that even at moderate ranges. But as you say 25 years of getting to know it will do that.
I shot a derringer for the first time ever a few weeks back. The hits were all over the place until I laid a thumb along the barrel to help steady it. But then the 15'ish lb trigger pull didn't help any.

A kind of concealled carry in plain sight.

I hear the belt buckle holster is illegal now... as is the wallet holster with the exposed trigger...

I reckon legality would vary by state. I know of no federal law, maybe, just don't know. Texas doesn't have open carry. I guess if the buckle was covered by a shirt tail, it'd still be concealed, though.

I saw Bob Munden, on " Impossible Shots "
hit a ten inch balloon at 200 yds. That was
with the NAA 22lr, with about a 2 inch barrel.

Wow, proves the gun is capable, I suppose, but I can only dream of being THAT good with a mini revolver. :D I am happy being able to hit a rabbit under 20 yards with mine. LOL Munden is REALLY good. He made his rep on his speed, but he's marksmanship with a handgun is second to none. 200 yards, though, wow!

How manageable is the recoil on the .22 mag? The grips seem pretty small and slippery?
Also, how do you carry them? Do you keep one chamber empty too prevent AD? Or can you align the cylinder so that the hammer lines up between chambers?

200 yards?! I would be pressed to do that with my deer rifle off-hand. Heck, I'd be pressed to see a ballon at 200 yards.
I guess that's why my HD choice is the 870 marine magnum.
