That's the question(s). Lotta choices right now, and some Cuddebacks are finally down to where I can afford one (always wanted one), but now I'm wondering if some other brands have 'caught up' to Cuddeback and can actually offer a better value with a nearly-immediate trigger speed?

Dr. Tad, i own an online store selling hunting gear. The cuddies take great pics! Alot of people swear by them. Check out my prices...i always try to come in lower than the big stores... www.PatsOutdoorStore.com

OK, I'll check it out; thank you!
Can anyone explain why the Cuddeback Excite 2.0 MP costs more than the Capture 3.0 MP?

I'm going to get a game camera, but it'll likely be a cheap one. Anyway, wife knows I want one and knows something about 'em now and has my son-in-law as an advisor come christmas. :D

For a cudde...i would say yes....but just like everything else, some people swear by certain products. Some of the stealth cams are cheaper and they will definitely do the job. But IMO the cuddebacks take a better picture. The Recon cameras take really good pics but they are a whole different price range. You can email me if you have any questions.

Last year I purchased a ScoutGuard SG550 and I believe the performance is better than the Cuddie Excite 2.0 that I have. The SG550 is now my preferred trail camera.
Also the new Bushnell Trophy Cam is essentially the same camera as the SG550 (both are made by the same company using identical electronics).
I've not purchased the Bushnell yet, but would not hesitate to do so. The SG550 is amazingly small and the batteries last for a long - long time. I've gotten six months out of them using lithium batteries. Picture quality is what I consider to be very good. For an evaluation between the two (Bushnell and ScoutGuard) please review the following link.
I'll be looking to get a Bushnell Trophy Cam or Cuddeback of some flavor from Covey Leader.
But why would anyone get an Excite over a Capture if going with Cuddeback - I don't understand that?

I do NOT like my StealthCam. Traditionally, they are very slow on trigger times, often in the 4-5 second range. They are best for watching feeders, but not for watching trails.
