Does anyone know if he FN Five Seven (5.7x28mm) is allowed in IPSC and/or IDPA matches? I am considering purchasing one for matches due to it's light weight, low recoil and high cap mags.
If so, what class would it fall under?
Thanks,

Both IPSC and IDPA have minimum caliber requirements--both .355, I think. So, unless I'm mistaken, No.

Thanks for the response.
I'm assuming it should be fine for steel challenge matches though, correct?

if I was a match director, I'd disallow it until I was sure it wouldn't crater my targets.

No on steel challenge; 9mm minimum.
The rulebooks for all these and many other disciplines are available on line for your perusal.

It seems unlikely it has enough power to knock steel targets over with any authority.
Besides, Steel Challenge match rules require a .38 Spl/9mm minimum caliber too.
They do have a .22 RF class but it is restricted to .22 Long Rifle only.

Well, that answers that. I will stick with what I am currently using.
Thanks for the quick responses. Appreciated.

The FiveSeven is pretty much excluded from any form of competition due to the small caliber and/or the possibility that such a small round traveling at above-standard velocities will likely accelerate wear-and-tear on steel targets.
I have read of people putting on matches that were exclusively for the use of the FiveSeven and PS90, but they aren't sanctioned by any of the traditional governing bodies. You might check over at the FiveSeven Forum (http://www.fivesevenforum.com/) to see if any of these matches are being held nearby.
Otherwise, for info on shooting action-pistol sports, check The Brian Enos Forums (http://www.brianenos.com/forums) to learn more about the various divisions and what sort of pistols can be used.

You know, the FN 5.7 really isn't in the same class as guns used for IDPA/USPSA/Steel Challenge.
Now, a SAFARI Challenge -- that would be perfect!
We could use these:
