Just out of curiosity, did Indiana Jones carry a S&W Victory or a Colt Commando/Official Police?

I don't have the movies on DVD so I can't get a good enough look. I know the ejector rod style will be a dead giveaway.

This has come up a few times here and on TFL.

Generally it's accepted that he carried at various times a Model 1917 Smith & Wesson, a Colt New Service, and even a Webley Mk VI.

It apparently depended on what the propmaster drew from the arms locker on a given day.

S&W Hand Ejector (two of them, cut to about 4 inches), Colt New Service, BHP (briefly) and a Webley Mk. VI, according to:

Edited to add: Mike, you posted while I was drooling over old pictures. :D

Thanks, Bob, I had just found that page via a more elaborate Google search. Certainly a more comprehensive answer than I expected.

The 4" 1917s explain why I thought they were .38s.

From the Indygear website
Why the half moon clips? Nearly all pistol ammunition produced in the USA in 1917 was for the M1911 semi-automatic pistol and was thus rimless.

Oh Pulllleeezzzeee. How can I possibly believe ANYTHING this site says now.

The "finding" on that site seem to have been written by a bookworm bespatacled geek, whose writing is so anal as to even insult those who know nothing of firearms.
