Here are the pictures of my (now) slightly custom Springfield 1911A1 Loaded.

Saturday, I had custom zebra wood grips put on it.

They were grip panels that came off an old 1911, that my gunsmith had sitting around the shop. He had to modify them to accomodate the ambidextrous safeties. I had never heard of zebra wood before!! :D

Denfoote... that thing looks BLUED... SA didn't make a BLUED milspec... did they??

I have a parkerized milspec that will (someday) be sent to Jim Clark for an accuracy and trigger job. Externals will stay as is for the most part. (spur hammer and milspec grip safety will stay... I have no problem with hammer bite or anything) I do want a better rear sight on it.. and already have a Videcki trigger in it....

Since we are posting pictures. Kimber Classic Stainless Target. The only thing original on it are the slide, frame, barrel & bushing, and ejector.

Sounds like you went and got rid of all those MIM parts!! How does it shoot?? I've heard some bad things about Kimbers lately. That's why I got the Springer. No MIM parts!! ;)

Great! It has been to two IDPA National Championships, a bunch of State and Regional championships, lost count on club level matches. We are talking 10K rounds plus. Today I was working on some 200gr loads. Easy head shots at 25 yds. No problem.

The other thing is, it never malfuctions. It may with some home loads, but with factory loads, never. It likes a good crimp. Screw MIM.

New finish, dehorned, trigger job, blended magwell, Ahrend's Gaboon Ebony grips, Wilson nitesites, Bulletproof slide release, arch MSH, checkered slide rear... truly enjoy this gun.
