Does anyone know if there is a much of a size difference between a Colt Python and Ruger Security Six both with 4" barrels? Will a python holster work on a security six?

Very similar. Should work. (Don't have a 4" Python ;))

Pretty close in size with the exception of the underlug on the Python barrel. Might not be perfect, but should work.

a Python is closer to the size of the Ruger GP-100...at least based on the fact that they both use the same speedloader.
i guess it would be more accurate to same that the Python and GP-100 have the same cylinder size

Will a python holster work on a security six?
Maybe. The Python is more like a GP100 or L frame as 9mm said. The Security Six is like a K frame. My SS6 fits in all the K frame holsters except some of the retention duty holsters. A SS6 in a Python holster may be a liitle loose.
