Why not have a military surplus (rifle) forum?

This would make it so much easier to find such guns at one glance, and help separate these from the newer, plastic rifles with all the fancy gear.
Many of us go to "Gunandgame", "Gunboards", "Surplusrifle" and even "SKSboards" because of such choices.
When even "SKSboards" has such a forum, there must be something to the appeal of classic old rifles.
MN 44, Lee-Enfield #4, #5 "Jungle Carbine", SKS, Mini 30 and the fearsome Savage .22.

There's a lot of overlap. Many SKSs wear plastic these days.:)

It becomes too hard to keep things reconciled between military rifles and their sporting equivalents and I am not sure that I see any benefit.

Is a sporterized(read "BUBBAED" to some here) Swedish M96 a sporting rifle or a butchered military arm? There lays the crux of the matter!!!

Where will it stop? Will we have a 1911 sub forum in autoloaders, an EBR sub in rifles, or a Glock forum in Autoloaders? I like it the way it is.

Maybe a compromise is to have a C&R forum, which would suit the unique needs of a few different constituencies without usurping any other forum entirely.

I prefer to go to one area for all my long rifle needs. If you are looking for a specific rifle try the search function.

Yeah, sporterising antique military rifles is slightly more than common.
I know when I finally go and get a mosin-nagant, I'll be keeping the wood hardware in a box, but it's getting a modern composite stock and an improved scope mount. Sacrilage? To a collector or period-correct enthusiast...but to someone that just loves to shoot on a budget, it makes perfect sense, while blurring the line a bit though.
