Am I luck or is this dealer on something?

All,
I have been looking for a decent .22 recently after selling off a NEOS to fun another project. I was thinking about a conversion unit for my Colt CC. I tried a Kimber unit, but it is made for a series 70 and my CC is series 80.
I went to a local dealer and inquired about the Ceiner units. He told me he had a Colt unit with adjustable sights he could sell me for $275. Well, I jumped on it. then I see this and am ecstatic/confused.

Did I get the deal of the century or is this dealer just off?

The seller is really trumping up the "rare" and "collector" in his description. I think he's fishing for someone with more money than sense or who really does just like to stare at guns and not shoot them.

What Black Snowman said. The dealer on gunbroker appears to be on something else as well.

The Gunbroker ad is way over the top, that is maybe a $500 unit new. They are common at gunshows in my area at asking prices of $350-$400 with little use.
So you got a good deal IF yours is the original floating chamber ACE conversion. If it is the aluminum slide ACE II conversion, you just got a fair deal.

Yeah, what Jim said...
The original Ace conversion had a neat "floating chamber" that made the gun feel as if it was recoiling from a .45. There are not many of those around in good condition, and they are very collectable. I assume the one on Gunbroker is such a unit - I also note it has the adjustable sights, which further enhance the value.

This woudn't be a "Kid Billions" item, would it?
I can't access the auction sites from work...
Kid Billions seems to have absolutely NO grasp on reality regarding prices....

I had the same thought, Mike. It's not Kid [take 'em for] Billions this time.
I wonder why he felt he had to include 3 identical pictures of the kit in the ad? The Blue Book says it should be in the $450 to $500 range. Even if it was in the very scarce nickel finish, the reserve is still at least $50 higher than it should be - and that's only the starting bid! Let's make a note of whoever even bids on it so we can sell any of our "rare" items to him or her.

Too bad gun broker doesn't charge for each auction... KidBillions wouldn't be posting 6 pages of over priced stuff then... what a waste of internet bandwidth.
