I receintly picked up this S&W 3000 Washington State Police trade in . Barrel measures 19 1/2 inches from the reciver to end and is parkerized. Barrel is marked Pol. Cyl. 2 3/4 ,I'm guessing Police Cylinder . Any idea what choke this would be and anyone know what years these were made?
Thanks guys

Cylinder bore, basically NO choke at all as was the standard for short shotguns back then.
The S&W 3000 was sold by S&W from 1972 to 1984.
After S&W dropped it, Mossberg sold it as their Model 3000 for one year.
The guns were actually made by Howa of Japan, who also imported it briefly under their own name.
Its a close, but NOT exact copy of the Remington 870, and most parts including barrels don't interchange.
Gun Parts Corporation sells most parts under both the S&W and Mossberg names.
No one currently seems to make a magazine extension.

Thanks for the reply. I should have noted that this one is marked Howa Japan. So this would have been made later then?
I actually found a original S&W mag extension for it as shown in the picture.
A company in Texas has some of original parts that they bought from S&W

I actually own 3 of them. One I bought brand new back in '84 when they were being closed out. It's fired hundreds of rounds as my primary training shotgun. I bought the other 2 a couple of years ago at a gun show for good price. They appear to have been police trade-ins, a little cosmetic damage but functionally sound.

You know, I'm a little embarrassed to admit that this is the first time I've ever heard of them as being a REAL firearm.
Up until this post, I seriously thought they were some kind of generic weapon-name that Capcom came up with for Resident Evil.

I bought one after I read Gabriel Suarez's book The Combat Shotgun.
In that book he has one in most of the pictures and I had to have one after that. It really is a good gun but has been overshadowed by the 870 and Mossberg 500. I think that in the end this is probably for the better though. I have since gotten rid of it.
