Will a fobus holster wear off the polycoat finish of a cz75?
Thanks -bevr

I have had ok luck with Fobus on other guns. The Fobus I have for my CZ75 will not let the gun go. That sucker is way too tight. Do yourself a favor and HBE Leatherworks make you one. You can't go wrong there.
Oh and I haven't seen any wear to the finish from the use of Fobus Holsters.

I agree:)
After the horror stories that i've heard about those plastic holsters..
and gun retention. I only use Cen-Dex kydex. No problems with
the finish on my guns.
Like Hakan Grips, HBE Holsters are the "hot thing" to have for any
true CZ fan.
Leave the $20 plastic, and buy a real holster. People who put
a $450.00 gun in a cheapo holster, usually learn the hard way.
Some might be on a strict budget, but most always wind up
buying a better holster within a few months. Eric has some
SALE items that he thinks are not up to his 100% perfect
standards for holsters. As you can see. there is not a thing
wrong with my sample holster from him.

All holsters are rough on finishes. Some plastic holsters seem to be worse than others.
If you can make your FOBUS loosen up a bit, it'll tide you over until you find another holster you like better -- but don't rush out and spend a lot on a good leather holster until you've looked around, watched, and tried others, first. (Go to an IDPA match, if there's one nearby, and ask the shooters there what they like. Or an IPSC Production match.)
If you know anyone who has a commercial heat gun, you can heat up the plastic of the Fobus to the point where it starts to soften just a bit, insert the gun, and work it a little. That will loosen things up enough to make draws easier. A properly fitted plastic holster wil minimize wear.
(Others have talked about getting the same effect using the microwave, but I can't vouch for that. But I do have a good heat gun.)
I prefer leather, too, but there are times when nothing but plastic will do. (As in high-humidity, high temperature climes.)

No, money is not the defining factor. I discovered by accident today that they even had one for a cz75. I gave away my nylon 12.95 gunshow special to a buddy to cram his Ruger .45 into. I have an uncle mikes belt slide that I bought for my RAP that also fits the 75. It will get me by till I get something else, hopefully this week.
I love my bianchi for my .357 and considered one for the 75 but they only have one model I sort of like in leather. The HBE looks a little rough to me. I like a thumb snap as i have suffered through situations with guns and knives where one finds himself defying the laws of gravity and weapons go a flyin. YIKES!
I love the Hakan handles and I'm tempted to buy some although my hogue wrap arounds are what this hombre will find comfort in when the chips are down. What I want is to get an 83 and get hakans for those. Now that would be the sweetest combo. I hope he is listening!
Any other tips on holsters for the 75 and what does an HBE cost?
Thanks for the heads up on the fobus I'm gonna skip it.

All holsters have a purpose..hell, I make custom gun leather and I have an Uncle Mikes plastic paddle thats damn near the fastest holster Ive ever seen....it and my Hellweg Speed Tactical. I found them for competing and still wear them on occasion.
The HBE stuff shown is rough. Kev has worn the holster and used it...it was slightly rough when I sent it to him...so it just goes that way.
Current stuff is slightly different and the finished product is alot nicer.
Just click on the link below and see for yourself.......I do ALOT of CZ stuff..85-90% of what I do is ConCZealment Holsters....
Shoot well.

Eric, I have been wearing your com 2 around the house for the last few days and I can't believe how comfortable it is. Carrying a cz75 with a full mag and it feels more natural than my wallet. As a plus the wife couldn't tell I was carrying until she got shall we say close enough.

I wore what I think was Eric's Com 2 (or a very similar, earlier design) the other day, all day, at a big festival and while doing a bit of driving to get there and back.
Very comfortable.
A tuckable, IWB design.
HBE is, by the way, HBEleatherworks.com (http://www.hbeleatherworks.com)
Eric's relatively new at holster-making, but is coming up with some high quality, innovative holsters available at very reasonable prices. I've got two, now.
He's reticent to toot his own horn, so we toot it for him.
You need to visit the CZ Forum, too, if you've got a CZ.

To get me by I bought another uncle mikes like the one I gave away, holds the extra mag ambi super generic but useful. I also bought a Bianchi. I think it's a black widow. I'm not sure.
Pcrccw, I forgot you were HBE. I've been to your site before. I will throw you some business next time around. Always have respected your contributions to this forum. It may be sooner than later. This bianchi don't cover the end of my barrel like I like.
I go to the cz forum once in a while but the damned colors hurt my freakin eyes after about 2 minutes of reading there. Yes I love red white and blue but it is one hell of alot easier to read over here. I get much less retna burn.
I like the diversity of contributions here too.
Thanks for the advise. -bevr

I have some really spendiferous race holsters, but I am just about as fast out of Kydex. I am shooting USPSA Production with a CZ 75B and a Fobus that I heated in the oven, then stretched out a bit by putting the pistol in a freezer bag and cramming the whole works into the holster until it cooled.
To answer your question, yes a Fobus holster, even when kept meticulously clean, will take the finish off of you pistol if you shoot a lot. The finish on my two tone is already catching hell after just six or seven weeks.

The Fobus's Ive had didnt get heated, if they would have been maybe I would have liked them better. The "non Kydex" plastics can go two ways. Very stiff and fast..ala UM's style or thinner, softer and more retention ala Fobus. Neither is Kydex..just plastic..both are great depending on your needs/wants.
The UM's is a better speed rig IMO and the Fobus do to its flexibility, a better carry rig. Ive already broken 3 Um's paddles just bumping into corners and such. The Fobus has ALOT more flex to it. It you can get it to let go of your gun...much better.
Like Steve said...use whatever works the best.......for you!
tbz...glad you like it....the used ones are pretty few and far between.
Score!
Walt,
Thanks and youre right. Im just another guy who makes that cowhide stuff in funny shapes, sizes and colors :scrutiny: Thats all.
Steve,
Absolutely! :D
