Greetings,

I would like to reload 7.62x54R for my ROMAK-3.

I would like to use RAMSHOT TAC but there is no data. I know, it may be a dumb question, but I am curious. (You can blast me...) Anyone has an idea if I could use the .308 data safely?

Thank you

No, never try to adopt load data for a different caliber. There are too many variables between calibers. There is plenty of 7.62x54r load data around.

I'm sure that an email question to them will result in a listing of data for the 54R.

Um, at least one reloading manual (Lee) uses "data from a similar cartridge" for their 7.62x54R load data. For a casual reloader, probably not a good idea to self-wildcat using similar data. Having said that, lots of folks do. I wouldn't personally, though.

edited to add: Actually, I was mistaken. The Lee manual does this for several cartridges, but not for this one. Maybe it was the Lee Loader instructions for this caliber that stated that. I'll have to go back and check.

30-338 and 308 Norma are so close that the load data is interchangeable.
Isn't this why we have old tires, oak tree and long strings??

lefteyedom: That's fine if you have a spare beater rifle in the caliber you are testing. I wouldn't do that with an expensive gun I didn't want to/couldn't replace.

That was typed with tongue squarely in Cheek!
Though I have test fired some weapons in the past using sandbags to cradle and surround the them and a long string to pull the trigger. The fear was that some of the weapons may had been sabotaged. None were.

If you email the Western site about your wants they will tell you if it will work at all and list all better combos with their product. They have been really helpful with special requests for cartriges/bullets not published in their data book. Email is on the container label.
