What do the choke designations 10/10, 7/10 mean?

What are "electrocibles"?

I'm assuming you are looking at the fine offerings of Perazzi.

Electrocibles are what were formerly known as ZZ Birds, now called Helice. Developed to replace live pigeon shooting with a target that is nastily challenging - zigs and zags and has to be hit and fall within a certain boundary.

Perazzi chokes are measured in .004 increments, therefore a 7 will 7 x .004 or .028 or Improved modified, while 10, or 10/10 (read that as 10 of 10), is .040 or full choke (some call it extra full) A typical pigeon gun will have a 7 on the bottom and a 10 on the top. Box pigeons and Helice are shot at distances ranging to over 35 meters.

If you ever travel down to Carson from Boise, the gun club there throws Helice

Hmmm... Why would Perazzi offer fixed IM and F in a Sporting gun? That's standard for a Trap gun.

They offer fixed or tubes in every gun -Perazzi is known for their barrels - they make some of the finest around - With fixed chokes, they can be made lighter and more livelier - which you need for bunker, Helice, pigeons, etc. Those guns are built similar to the American trap double, but are meant for VERY fast and erratic targets. If I had the money to order one for sporting I would pick fixed chokes as well....no tubes to clean. For American sporting or American FITASC, I would probably go for something along the lines of IC/IM or LM/IM, or M/IM.......of course I like my field guns with fixed chokes too.....Western wild birds, IC/IM......Southern plantation type quail, C/IC

I like fixed chokes for the reason you mention. My old 1100 Magnum is actually pretty lively, despite its excess heft. Those old fixed-choke, pre-lawsuit, no-rib Remington barrels are surprising. I just don't care for the rest of the gun, or, for that matter, plain barrels.

My favorite bird gun is an old SKB 20 with fixed IC/M chokes. Works well, and feels great.

I've shot a bunker competitor's Perazzi. VERY nice handling. Hers has the standard tight chokes, of course.

That's why I wondered about the 7/10 and 10/10. Perazzi's skeet guns are Cyl/Cyl. Perazzi must not have any doubts about their patterns.

Anyway, thanks for the info!:)

Helice sounds interesting...

If you look at Pacific Arms in CA, they usually have a large supply with either different fixed choke combos or tubes. The nice thing about Perazzi is that for the same amount of money, you are able to specify everything about the gun - removable trigger, coil or leaf springs, barrel length, barrel weight, stock dimensions, chokes of whatever type, spare trigger group, etc....... There's a reason you see them the most in the winner's circle at the Olympics, FITASC and other international events - they work. Plan yourself a trip to Italy - let momma go to Gucci, you go to Perazzi and get fitted and have the gun built and shipped to the US.......When I win the lotto, that's in the top three things that gets done!.......

Yeah, I've been able to take a few shots with some. They do. I'm not that attracted to just any shotgun, and in fact many of them really don't look like anything special. They handle like something special, though.

That inspired me to check USA Shooting's National Rankings page again, and happily, I found that a Perazzi-wielding friend from California has reached the top. London, 2012, I hope!:)

Perazzi sporting guns either come with factory choke tubes or tight fixed chokes. Mine came with 10 and 10. The theory is that the fixed chokes can either then be modified to the shooter's preference or choke tubes can be installed. I had Briley's installed in the 12 gauge and Teagues in the 28 gauge.

If you buy off the shelf, that is true - if you're willing to wait a little while, it can be order4ed form the factory exactly how you want it.....one of the nicer touches about Perazzi over just about any of the others in that price range

I'm not sure I'd know exactly how I'd want a Sporting Clays gun set up, if I had to decide once and for all, and hadn't ever even shot the thing.

I guess that's one reason screw-ins are so popular, imperfect though they are.
