I've had plenty of experience with Fiocchi centerfire handgun ammunition and .22 rimfire, but I have zero experience with their shotshells. So far, I have no qualms with Fiocchi.

On a lark, I purchased 100 shells of 2 3/4" #4 buck (Item 12HV4BK, nickel-plated #4 buck, 27 pellet count @ 1325 FPS) as I thought the $55 was a fair enough price to pay for it. I hope I was right.

Does anyone have any experience with Fiocchi buckshot, or any of their shotshells in general?

Thanks in advance!

I like Fiocchi buckshot for practice ammo in my 870P and I would trust it for self defense based on the tight patterns and cycling. I've run 120 rounds of the reduced recoil 00 buck 12LE00BK through it and 20 rounds of the high velocity 12HV00BK through it without any problems.

I ordered 250 of each from AmmunitionToGo so I can't say how consistent the patterning will be case-by-case. However, I think it's priced right and performs well for me.

I find it patterns a little tighter and runs a bit cleaner than average for cheap buckshot, I'm going through a bunch of their 00 right now. What I really like though is their Aeroslug, a pseudo Brenneke style slug that seems especially accurate in every gun I've seen it in.

Their 'reduced recoil' 00 load is the softest shooting buckshot I have fired so far. But I prefer full velocity loads for serious use, and their version in 00 is better than many other inexpensive brands as far as patterning goes. IMHO it's definitely worth buying.

Never tried their #4 buck loads, I prefer 00.

The only problem with them is the heads will deform very fast if left under pressure in fully loaded mag tubes for any length of time. This may cause cycling problems.
