Ammo in the Southwest...

Just wondering if anyone California, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado are experiencing the same shortages of ammo for popular calibers we are here in Northcentral AZ?
I have been depleting my reserves and have just seen NOTHING at LGS's in my area...
Guess I will have to curtail my time at the range a little in the future is all...

My choices are either WalMart (which is always sold out since I don't personally know the guys behind the counter and/or the first guy who finds any gets to buy it all up), or the local shop which I love, except for their ammo prices...but even their choices are limited lately.
So I finally sucked it up and placed a huge order on the waiting list online, so someday it will show up.

CTD did have .380 but it was pricey.

Probably...getting Ammunition via Mail Order is the best recourse when local sources are scant, scant and overpriced, or non-existant.
Buying by the Case, or even half-Case, the shipping costs are usually not too bad...and shopping around for a good price, allows a good-enough deal overall.

well many of the regular spots (local range, Wally world, sporting goods shops) are limited at best. and .380--very scarce, and I am here in the capital and heard similar things from a contractor (though not as bad) who travels all over NM

Here in Phx its not to bad. Walmart is usually out but my local shops are decently stocked and last time I was at Cabelas they had TONS of ammo.

No shortage in PDX, even have 9mm on the shelf of the local Bi-Marts. Limited to two boxes of each caliber.

Oh and BTW lots of ammo here in NM. Where? Are you talking about $32 for a brick? Of course there's ammo available at that price. Pray tell where I can buy a brick for $15 or less.

It's not a matter of where, but when... that would be 2008.;)

Hah. Maybe YOUR Wal-Mart.
But I lucked into some .380 gold dots at my LGS. They got a whopping 6 boxes a couple hours before I got there...by then there were only 3 left.
As for Cheaper than Dirt...$50 for a box of 50 FMJ? I think I'll be remembering the gouging they're doing. My high priced LGS had premium ammo for $1 a round, not just the range stuff CTD is gouging on.

I will have to get down to Phoenix soon and see what they have down there...
