I had occasion to learn something new about my 48AL today at the range....

Unlike my Browning Auto-5s, the Franchi 48AL shell release tab thingees are not operated by the bolt but are operated by the barrel extension. That means that you cannot unload the magazine by just cycling the bolt..

I wound up unloading by manually releasing the shells, chambering them, and then racking the bolt to eject them... I'm going to have to find a better way to do this.

It should be possible to download the magazine by manipulating the shell stops. I don't have a Franchi here to experiment with, but look into the loading port (push up the lifter if you have to), see what's holding the shell in place, and see if you can release it with finger pressure on that part...

Yes, that will work. It's a bit tedious, but it can be done. Having played with it for a bit, I am befuddled as to why I felt the need to cycle the shells through the chamber.
