Does anybody own one of these? I took a look at one in the local gun shop & I must say it looks mighty solid.
Any rants/raves?

Heard reports of the passive firing pin safety issues that wouldn't
let the pistol fire. Minor fitting gripe with the rear sight...So far,
just hearsay, but Smith did recall some of them for the safety system.
'Bout all I can tell...

There has been a recall on the 1st 4600 or so produced. Exact number is on the S&W web site. Firing pin safety plunger has failed for some folks.
I've been very happy with mine.

Shortly after this target was fired, I swapped out the trigger, for one that fit the frame cutouts a little better. Other than that, it's been a joy to shoot.
I paid $660 for mine, and think that it's a great value in that price range.
Good Luck...

I have two of them. One is still unfired. The other one
has 1600 rounds through it without a malfunction of
any kind. It is very accurate and a pleasure to shoot.
I have had no problem with the firing pin safety. If I
did, I would just remove it and forget it. I have been
shooting 1911s for over sixty years and have never
dropped one yet so I don't feel the need of this safety.
If I do drop it and shoot myself, I won't blame or sue
S&W. I am also a firm believer in holding back the trigger
when dropping the slide on a loaded round. It has
worked for me for many years with no ADs so I see no
reason to change now.
Did I say that I am not politically correct? That's right.
I'm not.
