It will be interesting to see if Moose is the hero or if it comes out that he's guilty of obstruction.

About Hunting the Washington Sniper :

They held the nerve center of our nation under siege for three weeks, instilling fear in the hearts of the entire country. A&E SPECIAL PRESENTATION: HUNTING THE WASHINGTON SNIPER documents the intense day-by-day hunt for the killers – from the early horrifying reports through to the dramatic capture of the two suspects. With exclusive access to the investigation team, the program traces the murder and mayhem of 13 shootings over 22 days through unrestricted interviews with the Task Force's three commanders: police chief, Charles Moose; special F.B.I. agent Gary Bald, and special A.T.F. agent Michael Bouchard. Viewers see the Task Force at work in the top secret operations center in a 24/7 all-out effort to catch the killer. One of America’s biggest manhunts finally culminated in the arrest of John Muhammad, 41, and John Malvo, 17. The documentary gives viewers unique insights into the police investigation – and into the fear that paralyzed the area surrounding Washington, D.C.

A&E SPECIAL PRESENTATION: HUNTING THE WASHINGTON SNIPER shows how Chief Moose suddenly found himself flung into the spotlight of the world’s media. More than 1,300 press passes were handed out. Tents and Winnebagos housed a constantly expanding pool of media. Over the three weeks, Chief Moose became visibly exhausted and often seemed beaten down as he fought two heroic battles: one with the sniper, and the other with a hungry and wildly competitive news media. Finally, Moose announced that the gun was off the streets – and the suspects in custody.

Is Chief Moose still looking for those white guys in the white van? Is he still glad he got their rifle "off the skreet"?

I don't think of DC as the nation's nerve center; more like its colon or small intestine.

Gee, as much as da Cheef sees racism everywhere, this smacks of a "whitewash" of everything he did. Shouldn't he be upset about this? :D

I think the biggest stink of the whole sniper investigation is how little emphasis was put on the DC Metropolitan Police lookout alert for the 1990 Chevy Caprice seen at the DC shooting right across the line from Maryland. This shooting happened early on, in the evening of 10/03/03.

Muhammad and Malvo were stopped about a dozen times in the vicinity of the shootings and had their tags run about a ten times. This mostly happened after they were stopped for traffic violations.

Apparently none of the officers who stopped the snipers knew anything about the DC alert, which was known to the sniper task force leadership. At one meeting of the task force leadership (according to a recent article in the Washington Post) DC Police Chief Ramsey got furious that so little emphasis was being put on that alert.

I think the task force had tunnel vision and spent enormous time and energy chasing ghosts. They had 1,000 investigators working on the case mostly wasting time spinning their wheels.

I heard on the TV news this morning that all the alerts put out for white guy/s in a white van or box truck may have been used to the snipers advantage. The suggestion is they did some of their shootings when a white truck was nearby. Pure speculation and maybe false information given to the press to deflect any criticism about the Chevy Caprice being consistently overlooked.

I think many of the victims were shot due to the incompetence of Moose, the FBI and the ATF. I hope the press catch on and put the story out there, but I think they are too dumb and lazy to get to this important piece of the story.
