Looked at the HK P2000... WOW!

This has got to be the most comfortable auto I've ever held! The trigger reach, the LEM trigger, the gentle curve on the front strap, and the superior stippling on the front and back strap. Just absolutely superior! Too bad I'm not in the market for plastic DAO's at that price :what: . Do have a question, though... How would you field strip this pistol? I noticed the ambidexterious slide stop, ruling out the traditional method of stripping a pistol. Didn't see any levers or tabs, ruling out the alternate takedown methods. Did see a small tab near the upper right tang of the reciever, just below the slide. Does this have something to do with takedown? (also any input on taking down the USP's is appreciated).

Thanks,

Coffee

Yeah, I'm awaiting the P2000 to make it into the occuppied territories of CA :( They look like they'd make a fine addition. Take down is very simple w/ the USPs.
I'm not sure how the P2000 is field stripped, but it shouldn't be that difficult. Hope the link helps.

"Wow!! That's nuts!", were the first words to leave my lips when I first saw the price of a P2000.. :what:

You're right, it is a really nice gun, though. :o

Take down is similar to the USP.

When I bought my P7M8 years ago, a buddy called it the price of membership  Exclusive clubs have higher costs to join to keep the riff-raff out! :scrutiny:

Yeah, but everytime I see one, I keep thinking (to myself)..

"You can buy a used USPc from an online dealer (such as CDNN) in the $400-450 range.. Buy one of those.. "

"Now is that extra $300-400 more spent obtaining that P2000 really worth it?"

"For the money, you're only gettin' ambi slide releases and a few P99-like grip inserts."

"Just wait until the price on used ones drop down to reasonable levels."

"C'mon, do you really need to be the first one on the block/in this city/ around this neck of the woods to own one." :o

Exclusive clubs
Besides, I already belong to my own "E.C.", as I'm the only one in my little world that owns any HK's. The rest of my friends/family all own Glocks.. If I were to spend $800 on a "HK-built" Glock (as my friends all call it), I would never hear the end of it (They already give me grief over spending 1K on a SL8-1).. :banghead: :uhoh:

You know, once everyone on the block has one, whether or not you got yours first really doesn't matter  The price difference is worth it if you see & can experience the value in whatever it is you're buying.
I bought my P7M8 and experienced a little buyer's remorse until I shot it for the first time and saw that the money was well spent. The same holds true for my USPs. I just know that from sample to sample, the HK's tend to be the most consistent firearms available today.
As for the difference between the USPc & the P2000. I haven't had a chance to shoot a P2000. From what I've seen, the P2000 may be a bit too similar to the USPc to find a successful niche of its own & I doubt there'll be much cross-over ownership between the two. I for one am waiting for the sub compact P2000 ;)

That "everyone on the block" consists of two elderly gentlmen who would rather gab endlessly about the merits of their bolt action Remmy's/or lever action Winny's than, as they would say, "Waste the time of day on some silly German-made plastic handgun"..

Now that I think about it, I really need to move to a more "There's nothing wrong with ferrin guns" neighborhood..:uhoh:

Schuey, since when did true tacticals care what their friends thought? Don't worry you still get my respect and that's what counts, right? :neener:

Who cares what other people spend on guns. People who spend thousands on guns they don't shoot and train with have no right to tell someone who spends $300 more on a gun they shoot the heck out of what to buy. Well I guess they got the right, but I ain't listenin'

I had the guys at the gun shop in stitches today while they watched me stack pressure on this thing's trigger. It had to be the spongiest thing I had ever had the misfortune of searching for a break on. It went on forever! Having just joined the Cult of the P7 and also enjoyed the fine trigger of a USP Tactical I just can't grok wanting this DAO pricing-gun-action monstrosity in my collection.

I like that. :p Gotta 'memba that one! Yes, I'm a club member as of this past year.

As far as the P2k goes...I compared demensions to that of the USP Compact and the P2k is actually a slightest bit larger. While I've yet to hold one to see how it feels, I'd wait to find a used one or wait until the "newness' price drops a bit. Also, with steady rumors of the P2K subcompact being released next year, I'd just rather hold out for one of those. I like my USP but just can't get excited about the USP compact. There is a bit more visual attractiveness with the P2000 though. :uhoh:

Yup. Made it a lot easier but it was still a super mush-fest! Once you start even feeling resistance (ie the hammer is raised) it is still a heck of a pull. I can't stand DAOs, I guess.

It's just money...

Which I don't have. :D

Else, I would have brought home a P7M8 and a P2000 at the last show... :(
