Has anyone tried one out? They sure look promising and if they are as good as the .380 it will be a winner.

It kind of depends on which one you mean. If you are refering to the Bersa Thunder .45 Compact, then, I can vouch for it. I have a Firestorm Mini .45, which is essentially the same gun. I have put over 1000 rounds through it so far. With FMJ, it has had nary a problem...with hollowpoints...well, let's just say I'm okay with using FMJ...
I did a bigger write up earlier

Now that I have learned how to hold it, I get less hammer bite. I put 100 rounds through it Saturday, all at 25 yards. Not much of a grouper at that range, but it was hitting about 6 inches below POA with 230gr ammo.
My biggest problem with it is a very long, uneven DA trigger...SA is good though.
Maybe not as all around good as the .380, but for 300-325ish, a good gun.
Now, if you are talking one of the full-size .45's, they are actually made by Llama, and while I have no first hand experience, I have never heard anything good about them.
Good Luck!

There are some excellent reports on the BERSA Thunder series like this one

As I have stated many times, the Bersa Thunder 9 is one of my favorite pistols, regardless of cost. It rivals the features on my Walther P88 for one-fourth the price. The quality is very high and my pistols have been totally reliable.

priv8ter,
I am talking about the first gun you mentioned and not the single-action.
It looks almost like the .380 but bigger. I saw one in the local shop a while back. I think that is was just over 300 dollars. It looks good and fit my hand well, but I am still a little cautious.

priv8ter was talking about the same gun :D The Bersa and Firestorm are the same gun...essentially...he wasnt talking about the 1911 style.
Good little gun...look into them. The Bersa thunder was a Walther INFLUENCED design, wont say clone, and has a track record of being a great gun. The Mini thunder is just a shrunk version of the same action.
Shoot well.........
