Calling all gun owners of the Northwest

Hello everyone, I’m Joey Link. A little over a year ago I founded NorthwestFirearms.com (http://www.northwestfirearms.com), a local online community for firearm enthusiasts of the Northwest. We’ve been working tirelessly to build our website in order to achieve our main goal: to better organize firearm owners in our area against potential threats to our rights in the Northwestern United States. I’m sure you’re probably aware that Seattle, Portland, and most of the I-5 corridor is extremely anti-gun. Unfortunately, those regions also dictate most of the policy in our states. I realized that most gun owners such as me had no contact with more than maybe 30 other gun owners at most, and therefore any efforts to organize an effective defense of our 2nd amendment rights would be spotty at best. With our website, we’re changing that. Our goal is to create that central point of communication among the local firearm community. I urge each and every one of you who call the Northwest home to check out our community and get involved in defending your rights on a local level.

The admins of this site have been gracious enough to allow us to post this thread in order to spread the word, and for that I’d like to thank them. Without all these great sites and organizations I have no doubt our gun rights would look very different right now.

Stay safe,
Joey Link

Hi Joey. I'll check out your site. I recently got into shooting and was actually amazed at how many other gun owners I already knew here. I am out in more rural area now, but not very far from Seattle. And many of them are Democrats too ;-)

Great to hear we have a new guy involved. Be careful, it's a slippery slope! Guns tend to multiply for some reason. One thing I stress to everyone is that party affiliation and political views should really be set aside when dealing with a single issue, such as gun rights. We need both sides of this two party system to support our rights so they can lobby their party or elected officials to change or maintain their views.

Yes, +1 for Northwestfirearms.com as a good regional site. I found it last winter when I was actually contemplating starting a state/regional board myself, then found it already up and going. It is a good forum with growing membership, and a good source of local trades as well as store, shooting locations, and legal and political discussion and information. I check in every day or two.

The PNW has a long and strong tradition of firearms ownership and solid laws (trivia - did you know Wash. has had shall-issue licensed concealed carry since 1961? Those guys in Florida were late comers!). This board will grow into a very, very good one.

OK, I'm in under the same user name.

Not sure how much time I'll spend over there,
but want to support your efforts as much as I can.

Thanks for your work.

Congratulations! And you are correct,Oro.Florida gets too much credit mainly because of our large population.
I believe Indiana dates back to 1935 with their permit system.
And of course Vermont back to 1902 at least, with no permit of any kind.
I just visited Olympia,Washington for 4 days last month.
If Olympia is any example ,your new group is sorely needed.I used to live 20 miles from Berkeley,CA and bad memories started filtering in walking Olympia's downtown streets!:scrutiny:
The late 60's revisited.
BTW,a beautiful Capital Building and grounds there.Fabulous!

That picture and math problem are so you don't have to enter one of those hard to read reCaptcha things :)

Great work, Joey! I like the site, but I'm not sure how I can assist since I live in North Carolina. In any case, keep up the fight for RKBA! :)

Wow! I was poking around my old threads on here today and found this one. It's really hard to believe in four short years we've grown our little community to over 19,000 members.

Just out of curiosity, how will your organization be different from the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms? http://www.ccrkba.org/

Joe Link

Our goal is not to supplement the organizations which are already out there fighting for our rights, only to bring firearm owners of our region together to better communicate with each other. To be honest I don't have the time or experience to do the work these organizations do. I'd rather suggest to our members they donate to their organization of choice and us stick to our task of bringing the community together.
