skinning knife recommendation

Looking for an moderately priced skinning knife, mostly for black bear but possibly elk. Did a search here and didn't see much. Have some halfway decent hunting knives, but none specifically made for skinning. Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated, as I'm not looking forward to skinning a 300 lb bear with the wrong knife if the occasion presents itself this fall...

Doesn't get much better than the KOA Muskrat. I should say "any better".

For a professional shinning knife look at :

These are made for the meat packing industry and will last a lifetime. The selection of sizes and curves is great.

Don Llewellyn (Valkman here on THR) does a nice skinner: http://www.dlknives.com/Small_Skinners.php
That's a good place to start.

How about something like this. I can make the belly bigger on the knife for the perfect skinner.

I bought one of Valkman's skinners. Soon as he starts grinding again I'm going to buy one for my Father in Law.

CRKT and Cold Steel loved the original design so they reproduce it...
