I bought a revolver from a friend for $5.00 it is marked as 22lr on the barrel, the side has the words,

terrier one
serrifile inc.
lancaster, ca.

i've never seen a gun so junky, i think i might have over payed actually.

believe it or not it actually works... sometimes, light primer strikes.

I've seen cap guns that looked better built - you actually fired that?

Serrifile inc. was a Saturday Night Special company that operated very breifly in the mid to late 80's.

The Terrier 1 was a cheap pot-metal .22.
The Terrier 2 was a cheap pot-metal .32.

I think Californiia's growing gun law problem then, as well as the quality of the product put them out of business.

I've given this some thought. You should either destroy this weapon, or make it so it can't fire. The crudeness of this makes it only suitable as a paper weight.

or you can use CB's and shorts or even rat/bird shot and have a neat snake gun

$5? Heck, wait for the next $100 gun buy back, and take it in. You'll have made a 2000% profit on it. Then take the rewards and buy 1) a better gun with some added cash, 2) ammo for a gun you already have.

For areas that have gun buy backs, a $5 gun is a no-brainer for a turn around. Unfortunately there are very few $5 guns in Georgia. But fortunately there are also very few buy backs.

+1 on the gun buy-back solution. You are doing everyone a favor by a) destroying a piece of junk, and b) turning a nice profit that you can put to use on the purchase of a real revolver. It's a win-win.

They were also sold under the Clerke 1st name. They work just fine in 22lr, I have had one in my tackle box since about 1978. I have shot maybe 35 or 40 rounds. If it was lost over the side I would not go in after it. In the DFW area gun buy backs only give out sneakers, not my type of footware at all. Now if they gave out primers or ammo I would be all over it.

I have a crappy Rohm .22 that I can't wait to get rid of. I'm also waiting for a gun buy back. Do they still do them?

I have a crappy RG .22 revolver... but it belonged to my grandfather, so I won't get rid of it.

Or you could forget the gun buyback and save the taxpayers some money.

Hey, I have a crappy SA Rohm 22 mag/LR... :) so I'm not alone in the world after all...

I've thought about scuffing the frame and trying to paint it, but it'll still be a knockoff...

It'd be one thing if it were functional, then it'd be the backup to the backup to the backup to (well, you know where I'm going...) gun. But the timing is off, so I feel little bits of lead spraying out when I fire it double action.

How does one dispose of a gun? It's not like I can just toss it in the garbage, or throw it into the river. And plus, I bought it in NJ, so there's a lot of paperwork associate with it. That's why I'm waiting for the gun buyback. The hundred bucks is just icing on the cake.

Yep, it's a Clerke 1st. I have one in .32 S&W Not a bad round. I managed to find a box and a half locally so $60 for 75 rounds. I spent a lot more for the ammunition than the gun. Bought mine with a broken ratchet hand spring and made one for it.
I don't know a lot of terminology here so just bear with me.
The bolt face on this has a pocket behind the primer, causing the primer to back out. The firing pin pierces the primer 99% of the time.
This doesn't have that little cylinder stop hand in the classical sense. On mine the front end of the cylinder has notches, and is indexed with a small ball and spring. Judging by the ratchet hand spring: I'm surprised it isn't broken already.
Due to the lack of support for the primer, and the primer backing out: D.A. isn't possible a lot of the time, and some times requires one hand to pull the hammer while the other turns the cylinder.
It was and wasn't accurate. For what it is: the fact that I could get most rounds into a fist sized group (albeit POI being 6" from POA) at seven yards makes it more accurate than my Davis D38
Since I've no other dealings with them: I wouldn't buy another, but it's better than a stick.

You know those gumball machines that have crap sitting in little plastic globes waiting for you to put $.25 in? The ones with the sticky foot and such? It looks like it came out of one of those.

$5? Heck, wait for the next $100 gun buy back

i would but i live in the great state of south dakota, great idea though.

I have a crappy Rohm .22 that I can't wait to get rid of

i've seen a few rohm's and believe it or not this gun is even lower quality, although i don't know the condition of yours.

MCgunner, thats what i thought when i first saw this gun.

i think i'm going to work some on re-shaping the firing pin and adding some weight to it in order to make up for the spur that's broken off. this should make it more "reliable". i enjoy working on firearms and if i mess up on this one its really no big loss.

Serrifile was known as a manufacturer of rifle sights. In addition to the Terrier One revolver, which I am unfamiliar with, Serrifile also manufactured the Wasp, a tiny single shot, stainless steel, .22 short, standard velocity, side swing derringer that had a hammer block safety that was activated, with the hammer on half cock, when the barrel was swung open for loading. Pushing the safety button in, from the right side, after the barrel was swung closed, allowed the derringer to be cocked and fired. It had a bird's head grip and a spur trigger.

I'll give you $10 for it. The odds that 50 years from now there will be any of these still around much less functioning is well worth the $10 gamble to me. Future collectible?
