I just purchased the Ruger LCP. What would be the best mode of CC for this model. Is it a little heavy for the pants pocket? I have thought about an ankle holster, but don't know which one is best.

The Ruger copy of the Kel-Tec P3AT is best carried in a pocket holster in either the front or rear pants pocket.

Ankle holsters are only good for deep cover.
You have to hop up and down on one leg to get to the gun.
Or already be down on the ground.

Or this iwb. It is what I use. I got some clips from Crossbreed and converted to a tuckable type by removing the spring clip it came with and drilling a hole near the bottom and installing the tuckable clip. I wear it daily and can hardly tell its there. Sometimes I have to check b/c it is so unobtrusive. This way there is room in my pockets for phone, wallet, keys, chapstick, knife, etc.... And I did pocket carry for months prior and got tired of the bulk in my pocket.

My wife uses something like this for her LCP and it works very well:

Except hers has the sticky backing all over the outside of the holster. She used it in a Defensive Pistol class and it held fast to the inside of the pocket while the gun came free very easily. Now she's switched to the LCR so we have some more searching to do....

I use a Kydex holster from Alabama Holster Company. Inexpensive, and works well IMO. I have a Nemesis, and while ok, just didn't work for me.

Normally I don't care for the Fobus because they are too tight. This one is specifically made for the Ruger LCP with a nice red Ruger logo on the front. Beyond looks, this one really works well but only weights 2 oz.

I have started carrying the Fobus and really like it! It's quick to put on and off, and the inside of the paddle doesn't bother my skin. It keeps the gun protected as well.

And do I want to toss in the $15 extra for the super-duper horsehide?

kholster.com makes their version of the SuperTuck/MiniTuck IWB holster for the LCP, and there's a cheap ($10) tuckable IWB holster over at CheaperThanDirt.com (yeah yeah, I know). I'm planning on getting the Fobus holster, the cheap tuckable IWB holster and a pocket holster and carry based on how I dress that day.

Something else to consider -- get a kholster/SuperTuck/MiniTuck/MTAC, a set of C-clips from CompTac, and a cell phone/PDA pouch from WRBUSA.com. Replace the rear metal clip with a J-clip and slip the cell phone/PDA pouch over the original metal front clip. Should make for a near-invisible setup. (This is my plan for the G26 when I get one of those, too.)

Hilltopper, depends on what your purpose is for the pistol and how you dress. If it is a BUG and not your primary, then an ankle holster might serve you well though I don't usually care for them. If you are wanting to carry it as your primary weapon then you should strongly consider either pocket carry or inside the waistband.

For IWB, BIG +1 on the Alabama Holster Company. Take a look at their Hooker line; it is an IWB rig that is tuckable, with a hook that comes over the waistband and then back underneath the belt to keep it from slipping during the draw. I am right handed and carry a 1911 in a strong side OWB holster with an LCP back up in small of the back by using a left handed Hooker holster slid around to the rear.

Can't recommend any specific pocket holster, but anything that will fit the Kel-Tec P3AT will fit the LCP.

I use the Uncle Mike's pocket holster and the IWB holster, total cost for both less than $30 and work well. I also have a t-shirt that has a underarm armpit holster that works well but requires a loose fitting shirt. I stopped using an ankle holster because most are very uncomfortable, to me, and it is to easy to accidentally reveal the weapon when you sit down. My primary CCW is a XD40 sub compact carried in a IWB holster or in a DeSantis Top Cop. My normal attire is Docker pants and a Tommy Bahama shirt.

I carry my LCP in a Desantis Superfly in my front pants pocket. It comes with a print guard that is priceless for hiding the profile of the gun.
Its also very comforting to be able to have a full grip on your carry piece while appearing to just be standing with your hands in your pockets.

I bought a wallet holster a couple of weeks ago, and think its great. This is not a holster in the sence that you are drawing it from leather/nylon, but you just remove the hole combo. (LCP & wallet-holster) You can pretty much carry it anywere without the possability of having a problem. It's important that you learn to shoot it with the wallet on, as its a bit different, but not difficult. Here's where I got mine---> www.concealcity.com LM.

These little guns, if they are to be your only weapon, are best carried in holsters in your pocket IMO. I like the Mika one. http://frontiernet.net/~akim An ankle holster could be useful for a second or backup gun.

The beauty of the LCP is that it can be carried anywhere in any fashion. You can even swallow it one day and use it the next.

Personally I'd throw it in my pocket where it's the most easily accessable. Uncle Mike's Size 2 fits the wife's Keltec P-32 and my Colt 1903 Pocket so it should most definitely fit your LCP.

I have a plastic Galco paddle holster, a blackhawk #3, and a leather OWB Galco...... They all work well and depending on the clothes/ situation are all perfectly suitable. I would say the Blackhawk #3 or Desantis Nemesis are the most versatile because they fit in just about every pants pocket I have.

The paddle holsters are effective as well because they are easily worn, and easily taken off. Regardless of the choice on holster the LCP is so diminutive that the concealment option never end.

The Alabama Holster Co. holsters look good. Anyone here use their pocket holsters or perhaps 1 of their appendix carries for a compact like the G19 or a M&P compact?

Over the last 30 years I've tried carrying various backup gun holsters in lots of different locations and nothing felt right until I got the one Calibre Press used to sell. It sews onto your vest cover, which essentially makes it one unit with your vest. Since I've had it, I never went to work without my backup gun holster because I never worked the streets without wearing my vest. I can also say the same about my partners who also purchased the holster.

I was always concerned about vest holsters and taking a ricochet or bullet fragments should my backup gun take a direct hit.
