No, I don't think anyone can, not enough information. There were Mortimer's in Scotland, England and the US. Your shotgun may be a fine English double or a so so shotgun from Lovell { One Mortimer worked for Lovell for a while } or even a trade name shotgun.. Need pictures , are there any proof marks, { under the fore arm , bottom of receiver}, if so, need pictures of those, rub a little write out or white chalk on the marks so they will photograph. Need all the markings on the barrel in the order they are stamped. Is your shotgun a percussion or breech loader . By the way , reproduction of Mortimer shotguns are being made, but they are percussion , I believe. John, with old firearm identification, too much information is never enough. Please help us so we can help you.:)

Once again, I am asking for information lthat I cannot seem to find in any of my gun books. My wife has purchased a Mortimer, 12 ga. Underlever side lock outside hammer shotgun. I have looked in all of my library and cannot find out any information on this gun. Can anyone give me an idea of its history and value. It seems to be in excellent condition and is very tight..bores are very good. Can't tell, but barrels seem to be fluid steel instead of Damascus or Twist. Thank you in advance for your help...John Wesley Hardin

Sorry about the double post..that is what happens when you got a gun nut wife..she posted one and l didn't tell me she had done it, and I found out after I had posted the question. I finally got the gun. It is an underlever model with 30" barrels, metal butt plate, straight European style stock. Both lockplates say Mortimer London and that is all. Nothing on the barrels, but they are fluid steel and not Damascus or Twist Steel. Has matching hammers, locks up tight, 2 tiny hair line cracks in wrist, but still solid as a rock.Has the Broad Arrow and a Crown on the right side of the water table. Has the # 8045 under the underlever. Barrels are fairly bright with very minor pitting in the breech area. NIce smooth brown patina with no pitting. That's about all there is to tell. I would appreciate your comments and thank you again for your interest...John Wesley Hardin

The guys at doublegunshop.com should be able to help you. Records for Mortimer are owned by John Dickson in Edinburgh. They were very helpful when I e-mailed them about a Mortimer boxlock.
