Does anyone have any experience with this Mini 14 Target rifle? My dad has the ranch rifle, and it's a blast to shoot, for some reason this one just calls to me! Wondering if anyone has one or has any thoughts on it....

The few assorted forum reports say they shoot far better than your da's 'Ranch' or any other Mini. Needs good ammo though. Don't think I'd pay a grand for one though.

Range candy. Would you hunt with that thing? For that matter, would you blast away 500 rounds in an afternoon of Coke bottle shooting without worrying about overheating the barrel or throat erosion?

If you're in some kind of formal competition, it might make some sense. But an AR would probably make more sense.

Awefull big and heavy----gotta go with the AR on this one---and I'm a fan of the Mini.

I've got an AR already, just thinking about adding a Mini to the collection and play with. Maybe the ranch rifle would be a little more utilitarian. As far as hunting with it, probably not, unless I got into coyote hunting.

Mini-14s have such issues with stringing thanks to that pencil barrel...

Krochus beat me to it. Not a real "heavy" barrel. Not impressively accurate. Nice looking stock, but the length or pull is way off for most people. I'll pass.
