Please, if you do not have a C&R, please don't skew the results.
If you have a C&R, have you ever been contacted by the ATF for inspection of your bound book and collection?

Never contacted. May not ever use the C&R to buy a gun, either. Got it to get dealer discounts on parts and components.

The ONLY negative issue I've ever had with the ATF and my C&R FFL is that I moved a couple of weeks before they sent out renewal notice, so I didn't get my renewal in time.
In the grand scheme of things, that's pretty doggone good for government work :p

I answered no. I've had a few calls, one was at renewal time. In each case the agent asked some questions like the number of firearms bought and sold in the last year for example.
My renewal got held up for awhile. The agent wanted to do a visit related to my renewal. This confused agent kept asking about business hours; I kept explaining that I was a collector and worked during the day. He wanted to come by for an inspection right then; I explained that I was at work but would be happy to schedule a time/day. He called me a few days later and it was like talking to a new person with the same dumb questions. I was a little worried that his incompentence might cause me problems. I called the office and talked with his supervisor. She asked the basic questions and said I was good to go, got my renewal a few days later.

I didn't vote cuz I don't have a C&R license, but what is the process to get one? How much does it cost in terms of money, time and a**pain? With several of ya'll talking about renewing, I'm assuming that you like having it?

Nothing so far. I did my 2nd renewal back in March. I had the new license in 3 weeks.

Nothing from them ever. And, when it was renewal time, I had occassion to call them. The lady I spoke to was hugely pleasant and helpful. Go figure.

I did it the easy way:
(1) Called the BATF and requested application forms. Took them about a week to mail them.
(2) Filled out the forms per the directions
(3) Enclosed a check for $30.00
(4) Mailed the forms to:
Federal Firearms Licensing Center
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Explosives
2600 Century Parkway NE Suite 110
Atlanta, Ga. 30345-3104
(5) After 3 weeks I called1-866-662-2750 for info on possible issue date.
Bottom line : Took about a month from start to finish....

BATFE has never contacted me to inspect my bound book for my collection. I'm a collector not a dealer.

I wish these type of threads didn't get started. The anti's and beauracrats are going to see them and use them as evidence that all FFL's are out of control or some such nonsense...

Never been contacted.
Don't want to hijack the thread so a simple Y/N from someone knowledgeable would suffice, but if you let your C&R lapse for a couple years after moving to a new state, am I correct in presuming you have to start over from scratch if you decide to renew it?

Must have been the same lady I talked to about changing my address. Other than that the only contact I've ever had with them was "junk mail."

They inspected my book, but never asked to see any guns or evidence of guns, or any means of secure storage.
I've had my C&R since April 2007.
