gas operated shotguns

I need to buy a auto loading shotgun due to a shoulder injury. I currently shoot a pump but my shoulder can't handle the recoil anymore. I'm seriously considering the Remington SPR 453. They are relatively inexpensive and quite reliable. I'm not sure of their recoil though. Does any one have experience with the recoil of both a pump (Mossberg 500) and a Rem. SPR453? If so how do they compare? Thanks.

May I honestly suggest the Saiga series of shotguns? They do an amazing job of taming the recoil with the AK action. :)
If injury indicates it, try out the .410 or 20ga version.

There is quite simply no comparison in recoil. The 12ga Saiga feels like a pump 20ga with recoil pad shooting trap loads! :D
What is especially nice is that Saigas have 2 round mags available, so they're hunting legal. That, combined with a quick conversion to pistol grip and adding a recoil pad, would yield an extremely soft shooting shotgun indeed.

Heavy gun plus light load equals low recoil. Add a gas feature and the felt recoil also seems less. I have a Remington 1100 in 28 gauge. I added an 8oz. weight to the mag cap to smooth my swing out. The recoil when shooting target loads is extremely light and the gun is a joy to shoot.
Whatever gun you get, adding more weight to the buttstock and mag area will greatly reduce recoil

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm really looking for a water fowling gun. I'm currently using a Mossberg Regal 500 pump and the recoil is to much for my shoulder. I'm trying to find a reliable gas operated semi-auto for less than $500 and the only one to come to mind is the Rem. SPR 453. A used Rem. 1100 would be nice but here in the northwest they are more than $500 unless you get a straight bore (no chokes). I was hoping someone would have some experience with the recoil of a pump versus the recoil of a SPR 453.
