Guy is going to buy a rifle and a boat load of ammo from me, and he lives in Ill. I know they have alot of bad laws there; is there anything, as the seller, that I should be concerned with?

mlaustin August 31, 2009, 04:21 PM Make sure he has his FOID: Who needs a FOID card? Unless specifically exempted by statute, any Illinois resident who acquires or possesses firearm or firearm ammunition within the State must have in their possession a valid Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card issued in his or her name. (from http://www.isp.state.il.us/foid/firearmsfaq.cfm) Make sure you have a photocopy of their valid FOID on hand just to protect yourself. **There might be more rules regarding the actual firearm transfer**, but the FOID is big deal for anyone in IL to get ammo. Birddog1911 August 31, 2009, 05:11 PM Is it really just to cover my butt, or is there an actual legal precedence? I'm just trying to do the right thing. NavyLCDR August 31, 2009, 07:09 PM It's called statute. State law: 65/3. Requisites for transfer. In addition, all firearm, stun gun, and taser transfers by federally licensed firearm dealers are subject to Section 3.1. http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ilcs3.asp?ActID=1657&ChapAct=430%26nbsp%3BILCS%26nbsp%3B65%2F&ChapterID=39&ChapterName=PUBLIC+SAFETY&ActName=Firearm+Owners+Identification+Card+Act%2E Birdmang August 31, 2009, 07:13 PM Make sure he has a FOID card and send the ammo, of course he will get the rifle from an FFL.
