Hi all. Just picked up one of those Wally World 10-22s from a buddy of mine. The one with the 22" stainless barrel. Not a fan of wood stocks and want to get one of those hollow plastic stocks because they are light and I prefer black. Was wondering if a regular Ruger 10-22 black synthetic stock would work with my gun since it doesn't have a barrel band?

Also does anyone know if the Hogue Stocks are hollow. I'm trying to avoid the weight that a solid stock brings along.

Any stock with a sporter channel will fit.

All the synthetic stocks that I know of are hollow, and generally come in a bit lighter than the wood stocks. I have a Wallyworld special stock lying around here that I just put on the kitchen scale, and it came in at 39 oz. so there is definitely some weight loss possible. Checking my notes, the Fajen synthetic stock on my light 10/22 weighed 33 oz. after bedding. The barrel is bedded for a couple of inches in front of the v-block, and there's probably an ounce or two of epoxy in there. Butler Creek makes one that's very similar. The Hogue might be a bit heavier due to the coating. The lightest 10/22 stock that I know of is the Blackhawk Axiom, which is supposed to be 18 oz.

If you really don't want it, you might go over to Rimfire Central and list that wood stock in their classifieds. The Walmart Special stocks and barrels bring a good bit more than the standard carbine parts do.
