I have a DW RZ10 that is a great shooter as plinker and house gun, but I detest chasing brass and buying brass cuts funds fast.
I already have a S&W 629 classic hunter that I hunt with and reload even cast my own bullets. I have been toying the idea of trading my DW for an other 629 with 3-4 inch barrel I use it for plinkling and as a house gun.
No way can I afford to buy an other 44 at this time or probly ever recoil isn't a factor. I like the 1911 but I like revolvers too.
Help me decide what you would do? Thanks

Ever contemplate a single action 44 mag? I love my SBHs and you can get them for between 3 and 4 hundred.

I have a 629 in 4" bbl, and love it. But, IMO the 44 mag has way too much potential for overpenetration for a home protection gun. If that is the gun you would like to use, I'd suggest shooting 44 special ammo to limit potentially harming someone in your home due to the overpenetration.

I would use either 44 spec, or down loaded 44 mags. but I don't know if pentration is that much different than full bore 10mms. I don't shoot at any ranges and if I get my ccw I would carry a 38 spec. or a smaller lighter auto than 1911 any way. I would like to streamline my componates and this is one way of doing so without spending big dollors. I have had a few Super Blackhawks 4 5/8 - 7 1/2 and I never felt at home with one. I have had a few S&W 44mag but always with barrels that are to long 6+ inches. The 10mm carries nice for its flat but cannot be carried during deer season here in KS. Thanks Rem.222

Have you considered .45 Colt (Long Colt)? Lots of good cowboy loads for softballs all the way to loads that make the .44 Magnum appear lacking (depending on the strength of the firearm).

I went with either .45 ACP or 9mm and I don't chase brass. Buy it by the case, then buy more.
