stiff safety on 590

I have a new Mossberg 590. The safety is really, really hard to move back and forth. I let some oil seep into it and that seemed to help it move smoother but it really takes a lot of force to move. After 5-10 toggles my thumb feels really raw.
Any way to break this in faster? I don't use safeties much but I'd like it to work when I need.

I think this is normal. I had issues with mine as well...from time to time. Im assuming a decent "break-in" period just may be in order. However, I skipped this mess and opted to replace the safety with this:

Now, the safety engage/disengage has a much more positive feel by far.

Well you could continuously apply oil and work the safety back and forth with some gloves on while watching TV for a couple nights and see if that helps.

I didn't have a glove handy but used a sock to give my skin a break. Worked well enough. Worked a little more oil in there as well. Seems easy enough to move now though I wouldn't want to do it all day.
Thanks guys.
