I'm trying to remember who advertised a 'high-end' Remington 1858 or 1875 in .44 Magnum...
It wasn't Uberti.
I just looked at U.S. Firearms, and didn't find it there, either.

It was within the last couple of years and a very nicely done gun.
High-polish blued steel; in the $1,000.00 and up price range.

Anybody have info on this?

like to see that if you have any luck trackin that down.
It had to be an 1875 , the 1858 could never platform a .44 Mag and surive .
I would be reluctant to shoot a hopped up .45 Colt out of that design , and I do , but its out of the Stainless Pietta , the biggest baddest 58 made .
I sure hope you can track that down , I rely want to see if someone actually did it in the 58 , they got more balls than me :D...I max this one out with Remington Express .45 Colt Loads , but I sure wouldn't try a .44 Mag in this frame . But I sure would liek to see if someone has done it though , wow , thats crazy . The 1875 , well , I think it could easilly handle it , for awhile :D

An outfit called The Hartford Armory advertised 1875 and 1890 Remington pattern revolvers built strong enough to handle .357 and .44 magnum. I don't know if they ever actually delivered any. The website is still up but the last information on it is from 2004. They list Taylors as their distributor but I see no mention by Taylors of the Hartford guns today.

I believe it was USFA making the thing for sale by Remington. I don't know if it dried up and blew away but haven't heard much on it since the ad for SHOT 08 which USFA still has on their site:

The e-remington-sons site referenced in the ad seems dead though "whois" shows Remington Arms Company as holding the domain.

All of which leads me to believe that we shouldn't hold our breaths waiting.

Since I'm on a speculative journey with this post I'll also bet a donut you'll find no one at Hartford willing to talk about the Remington - I believe they're backed up a smooth year trying to produce STI Texicans and the Remington is so far back-burnered it's fallen off the back of the stove.
