Since I live in MD, its not like these are on every news stand and 7-11, but I was in the evil capitalist Wal Mart today killing time, and since I had heard that "TSN" is the be-all/end-all for the gun culture, I picked one up.

Sweet Jebus, they sell EVERYTHING gun related in there!:what:

This is both good and bad:

Good 'cause: They sell EVERYTHING gun related in there:D

Bad 'cause: I ain't a billionaire, and besides half of that stuff is probably
illegal in this state.

Any thoughts on "The Shotgun News"? I'd like to get a subscription, but my Maryland mailman would probably report me to the Maryland State Police! I'll keep my gun nuttery on the down-low, and keep buying it at the evil capitalist Wal Mart, where I only have to deal with the swooning cashier.

I felt the same way when I first found Shotgun News - I check every couple months, but it seems mostly the same every time I check. Same ads, etc.

Now go find a similar publication called Gun List and compare.

I alternate between the two, sometimes there are different advertisers and even articles.

When I got my first FFL (1978) Shotgun News was published twice a month.
it was HUGE, running almost 300 pages each issue and there were NO articles in the front like now. A couple of years later it went to three times a month as was still over 250 pages per issue!
:what:

Y'all should have seen the stuff they offered back then. <sigh>

It's still worthy of reading though.

SN used to have lots of private sellers, but GunList took some of the wind out of the sails with those.

What gets me is that you can buy SN at Wal-Mart and Top Foods but not GunList. :fire:

I get a copy every two months or so. The ads are virtually the same if you look at every issue. I'd prolly save money getting a subscription, but I'd rather keep the local Barnes and Noble selling evil gun magazines.

If you like old battle rifles like I do it's an excellent publication.

greyhound, I know exactly how you feel. I just discovered it about a year ago, and now have a subsc--I mean prescription. The ads do tend to be pretty much the same issue-to-issue, and twice a month (instead of three times) would be fine with me. But it's still just a whole bunch of fun to page through.

Be careful if you subscribe to SGN. The Department of Homeland Defence considers that magazine as one of the signs of a domestic terrorist. Along with copy's of the Constitution and the Bible.:scrutiny:

The ads are pretty much the same issue to issue. I just subscribed for a year. I wish I could get just one issue a month for three years for the same price.

I think I've bought my last Gun List. Indexing is a great idea, much more organized, but it seems like the distributors don't place many ads in it anymore.
