Would you pay over a grand for this Python?

He says it was ported at the factory, but I can't imagine Colt drilling porting holes in locations that would do nothing to reduce muzzle rise. It mostly looks like some idiot did it on his drill press.

Or am I mistaken? Cause I have never seen porting like that.

I think you are 100% correct. Good to see the number of horse's asses is still greater than the number of horses.

I too, believe you are right harmonic. Looks like he clamped it down and drilled straight through. That should be a felony. I feel sorry for the buyer but it was his choice.

He maybe hasn't paid for it yet and will have time to reconsider. Since the seller posted false information, I wouldn't think any buyer is obliged to pay for the gun.

The Colt factory would never ruin a gun that way.

the colt factory does port barrels's... sorta like that.. i hava a anaconda 44 8 3/8 barrel with the "holes" porting... but they are positioned at the top of each side.. not the sid of the barrel like these... being a 44 fan.. i don't understand why one would port a 357 with a short barrel like that anyway!!

Yeah, the first thing that loaded was the big photo with the port holes, I said "no way."

..."He says it was ported at the factory"...

he is a liar, and the truth is not in him. NO firearms mfgr would do that! drilling/porting right through the caliber stamping would just be begging to get sued by someone who managed to put the wrong bullet in it!!!!

I still can't believe it, right through the stamping.

The only way to buy that Python for a grand and do OK on it would be if you had a nickel 2.5 inch barrel and you were a real gunsmith.
Yank that farm grown 7 hole barrel off and do the switch. Toss the old barrel in the scrap can.
The gun would letter correctly and you would have a very hard to find nickel short barrel Python.

Hello Gunnie,
Yes, they came very highly polished. For the most part, like a mirror.
The Python on the bottom is factory nickel and the other 2 are bright stainless.

At least he didn't do it the way I saw on a Old Model Blackhawk in .45 Colt. (they only made the .45 Colt for 2 years in the Old Model, so there aren't many of them out there)

The idiot in question drilled the holes in the proper place at the top of the barrel, but this Einstein didn't adjust his drill press to STOP once it penetrated the barrel. The drill hit the far side of the bore on both holes.

Now that I think about it, I doubt he used a drill press, just a hand held drill.....

"Yeah, that one's been Magna- Ported," they told me...........

The seller left himself an out. He said "...the barrel is ported. It appears to have been done at the factory. I'm not sure though..." And he mistook nickel plate for stainless. He is both smarmy and ignorant.

It looks like the buyer may have gotten stuck with a ruined Python.

BS Colt or ANY other MFG would never drill through factory lettering.
