I have this SXS 16 gage black powder shotgun that was made between 1938 and 1941. I have proofed the gun myself back in the 80's when I came into procession of the gun. I proofed it with smokeless powder in both barrels. the loads conformed with proof loads now in use; however, people at the skeet club keep after me not to shoot the gun so I purchased two Savage four tenner and used them for many years. They pattern 52% barrel #1 and 46% barrel #2 which is very close to Skeet1 and Skeet2.
What I am looking for is two 20ga inserts that are made like the four tenner. Something that would take the pressure of the shell firing. I have checked out the Browning Lil Skeeter Gage Mates, and Briley's; I don't think they will meet the standard of the four tenner.
If any one knows of a source appreciate the heads up.
