Iíve been looking around for loads 1000 fps for my Ruger Blackhawk .45. Iíve a couple that use titegroup. I have never used this powder and would like to know if anyone has had experience with it. How it measures? - Does it burn clean etc.?

I've used Hodgdon's recommendations for Little Gun under 240 gr JHC, which was 28. grs. I got 1490 fps, but it felt like my hand was being wrenched off, so I'm going for something a little more mild - 1000 fps thereabouts.

I haven't used it, but I've heard good things about TrailBoss. Not sure that you'll quite get 1000fps out of it.

Personally, I'm using Green Dot (of all things ... all I could get). 6.8gr under a 255gr lead semi-wad cutter. That gives me 850-900fps or so. Burns clean, but isn't a real consistent measure (flake powder). Nice mild load.

Alliant "Promo" or Red Dot, with cast lead bullets anywhere from 200 to 255 grains. My favorite load (not my hottest load) is 7.5 grains of Promo with a 230 grain truncated cone bullet. This is about midway between a normal .45 Colt load and a "+P Ruger" load, and they run a little under 1100 fps from a 7.5" barrel.

I use it quite a bit in .45 Colt. It seems to really make bullet lube smoke though. It's an extremely clean burning powder, but it doesn't look like it when you shoot it with cast bullets.

I've been pretty pleased with it so far. It's supposed to be position insensitive, which is good for its low charge weights in the .45 Colt case.
