The Parabellum pistol is now available for delivery in the United States.

The cost is $17,545.00 U.S. Currency, FOB Krieghoff International, Ottsville PA, which includes US Federal Excise Tax. FOB Krieghoff factory in Germany. The price includes specially made aluminum pistol case machined from solid aluminum block and imprinted with the authentic Krieghoff anchor insignia; additional magazine and Certificate of Authenticity signed by Dieter Krieghoff. Only 200 pistols will be made.

IF it's one of these, the high price is in line with the Krieghoff tradition. Low life working stiffs don't buy Krieghoff guns. They are made for upper class folks and the price tags reflect that. Also understand Lugers (real German ones) have been made pretty infrequently since WW2. Mauser made several runs that were less spendy but they were NEVER 'cheap'. A Mauser "Parabellum" made in the 70's or 80's can still fetch well over a grand.

Krieghoff has made several small runs of Luger pistols in the post-WWII era and made 200 pistols around 2006; the Blue Book lists the MSR at $15,950 and current 100% at $14,000. Is this a new production run, or are they still trying to get rid of those (IMO way overpriced!) 200 guns?

Note that while Mauser postwar production (backed by Interarms) was successful in turning out nice guns, the project was a financial disaster. In spite of many assurances from gun writers and Luger fans that there was a tremendous market for a new Luger (I can't really call a post-WWII Luger made by an original manufacturer a "repro"), sales were not enough to amortize start-up production costs. I have to wonder if the small lots Krieghoff has been "making" are really new manufacture.
