I recently saw a thread with some great pictures illustrating proper
case length in a removed barrel. Now I can't find the post. Can
anyone point me in the right direction?

I don't remember either, but here it is again. The first time I ever saw this it was posted by Shoney I believe.

Walkalong, I knew I had scant seconds to beat you. ;)
You would have had me if my son caught the quesadilla maker on fire.

double d, Note that image four says "bullet seated out too far or case too long"
It's rare to find a case too long, and more likely to seat a cartridge with a COAL that's too long.

Thank you everyone. This is the illustration I remembered seeing.
I just got a new 945 Smith and tested a few sized cases in the
removed barrel, and anything over .893" seemed to be near flush.
The illustration suggests I can go all the way to flush. (Oddly, my
1911 Smith can go another .004") Thanks again.
