I have alot of parts for 1911s. I also have no frames. I would like to know if any one has expierence with Essex or Caspion frames. Iplan to purchase 2 units. What are the pros and cons?

Caspin pricey but is better frame My old Detonice used a caspin frame I understand
I hope you have a lot of experience along with those parts 1911's don't just fall to gather

Caspian frames are excellent. Essex frames are...pretty good...most of the time. You can build up a serviceable pistol on either one...but if you're building one to last...pop for the extra bucks and go with Caspian. You won't be sorry.

I have an Essex that I use as a dedicated lower for my Marvel conversion unit. It's great since Tuner worked the trigger a little but since it doesn't get any pounding I can't speak for the durability.... It holds the parts real nicely......

There's a secondary outlet for Caspian frames and slides called Foster Industries. They carry Caspian parts that are either returns, mistaken orders, or factory seconds for whatever reason.

Lower prices. There's generally nothing at all wrong with them - they result if someone orders a slide with Novak cuts for sights but later decides they want to use Heinie sights - things like that.

Caspian will refer customers to Foster's when they get the idea that they're dealing with a one-off builder (me), a cheapskate (me), or someone who doesn't do well at making up they're mind (also me.......sometimes). Check them out at : http://www.fosterind.com/index.php

Essex is apparently moving their production facility and aren't producing any frames until next year (at least this is what I've heard). I've looked at Brownell's and the essex frames I was looking at were out of stock.

I used an Essex frame on my 1911 and have had no problems.
