I have just read about Smart Carry...some like it...some don't. But has anyone used this type of holster, not for carrying guns...but carrying your wallet...in order to leave the pockets for the gun, spare mags, keys, cell phone?

Yes, you could use it for all that other stuff. I would take a hard look at canted strong side carry if they made one that sat higher.
