Garden Gnomes Beware!

Because someone sent me a new Cold Steel Spetsnatz SHOVEL. :what:

Holy CRAP is this thing cruel looking! I have no doubt I can split wood or throw it handily into the onrushing face of an enemy of Mother Russia. But wow... dig a FOXHOLE with this thing? Those Russian soldiers are tougher than anyone gives them credit.

Compared to my WW2/Korea era folding shovel (pick and spade) this thing is a garden trowel, but as a weapon yowza. I'm shocked Midway shipped it without a sheath or in any 'special' packaging. I can imagine a hasty UPS man losing a few fingers and toes if he dropped the package the wrong way.

The enamel paint looks well baked on and the edge does have some burrs, but its SHARP. I will NOT hold my fingers anywhere near THIS one while splitting kindling.

I'm guessing if Gimli carried digging impliments instead of an axe this is the kind of no-nonsense brutal orc splattering back up spade he'd stuff in his belt.

Nice! I've always wanted one of those...I'll tell all of my garden gnomes they'd better go into hiding if you ever come over...

I have one too and I love it. Might as well be an axe, but no one will ever know it. I keep this one in my car even when I go to work (federally guarded property).

Gotta get a sheath man, much safer that way. They sell ones specifically for it on ebay and Cold Steel.

Oh wow, awesome.
I was looking at maybe getting one of these but didn't know about anyone actually having one.

I saw on the military channel around beginning of summer a show about Russian special forces (Spetsnaz) it showed them using the shovel as a weapon, unfortunately i can not find any video of the show online. It is quite scary to see them accurately splitting in half inch thick boards!

I got one, it's awesome. I take it hiking, it works alright for a hasty fire pit, and can slash through brush in a pinch.
