This is a really nice looking 410 remington pump....I noticed it at a store I have dealt with several times before..I did not look at the gun for the model...why I don't know...I did get the serial number...Just trying to find out when it was made and if it was a wingmaster...it could be the wood sure looked good...I can get more info tomorrow, just trying to find out all I can now....can get it for 325.00.Noticed a wingmaster is 800.00's retail...I appreciate anyone that maybe able to pass any helpful info..
Serial number....A1398XXH
The two ..XX are place of numbers..Thanks HK23BEACH

It should be pretty obvious if it was a wingmaster or an express model. Wingmasters are polished deep blue and attractive walnut while an express model comes with dull, unattractive stained wood (birch?) and a dull mat finish. Mechanically they're the same gun, but look nothing alike finish wise. If this gun is a Wingmaster and you can get it for $325, I'd say that's a very good deal for a 410 model 870. However, if it's an express model that price is about average or high. There's a 410 express sitting in a pawn shop near me that could be had for about $275 and it's been there for almost a year. I've looked at it several times and have been tempted, but the price of 410 ammo scares me. I've also seen similar 410 express models priced around $325 at gun shows and we all know how gun show vendors price their wares....

If it was made before 1999 you will have to check the barrel code:

After 1999, well, I don't know who has the serial number list other than Rem.

Best bet for an accurate date is to call Remington with the model and serial number. During business hours (eastern time) call 1-800-243-9700 and go through the phone tree. There is no published list by serial number, the factory will have to look it up for you. It's no big deal to do.
Barrels are easily swapped on 870s, and sometimes barrels stay in the warehouse for a couple of years before they get used on new guns. The serial number is the way to go...

Made between '91 and '94. Probably '91. Price is a little low for a Wingmaster and a little high for an Express in .410 around here. If the wood and metal finish is glossy, it's a Wingmaster.
