Anybody making reasonably priced target grips for the 1858's?
Have a stainless one I find to be very accurate but dont care for the tiny grips...
Even just over-sized would work...
While I'm on it, anybody put a scope on one before? If so How?

This outfit claims to have slightly oversize grips in different configurations to fit many of the different 1858 clones.
And because they're made from a resin material, they can easily be built up and altered if desired.

There's a series of pages with information.
The current Uberti grips are model 126-a but others may also fit. All of the dimensions are provided. You'll learn more if you look at their different product pages yourself.

Mr. George, I am not trying to sound sarcastic but why would you want to put a scope on a BP revolver??? To each his own but it just puzzles me ;)

My Uberti 1858 Remington is drilled and taped for a weaver mount. The owner previous to the one I bought it from apparently had a scope mounted on it. I kid you not.

There's probably a way to temporarily install a scope using a barrel clamp mount.
The loading lever may need to be removed and loading would have to be done separate from the gun.
The reason for scoping any revolver is the same I suppose.
There's even a laser grip that fits the Ruger Old Army that projects a laser dot.
With some folks talking about shooting their Walkers out to 200-300 yards, maybe other folks would need a scope to aim anywhere near that far away.
A red dot scope might not be such a bad idea for someone with a need or desire for assistance with aiming more precisely. A scope may also allow a greater range of adjustment when shooting at longer yardages.

I know someone who built a simple home made clamp mount for their bull barrel .22 semi-auto.
He clamped Weaver scope rings onto his barrel upside down, with their bases facing skyward. The bases of the rings were attached to a Weaver scope rail. Then he attached a scope to the rail.
The barrel was simply shimmed so the rings could be attached to it securely.
But a B-Square revolver clamp mount for another revolver model may also be able to be adapted to secure it to an 1858 barrel without making permananent modifications to the gun.
A clamp mount might get in the way if there was a chainfire, but that would depend on the details.

eyes are any good anymore, a scope is the only way they can see anything .
Even if it sounds just wrong on a 58 , there is a reason for scopes for some people .
Just remember the Malcom and its relatives, there is a reason for perfection in accuracy .

Nobody makes a set of 58 grips for target shooting , thumb-rest style , other than a custom grip maker . Period .

Most Defanitly NO! I got a 10ga Pedersoli SxS Muzzle stuffer for when I can't see no more for a Handgun... either Rem, R&S, Starr, Colt, or ROA... Before I put a scope on a C&B or Cowboy Gun... I have stainless ROA for Humid or Jungle, Arrid or Desert use. And the Blued one for Night use, stealth tactics with a Fire spuin' Dragon in your hand...fire flash Bang and run ... :O)
