I know we discussed this a long time ago, but I can't remember the answers. What Italian manufacturer, was sued for either copyright or patent infringment for making the replica's to accurate (stamping etc)? And when did this happen?

Armi San Marco produced some rough casting parts for Colt 2nd Gens like Uberti did but didnt't get the contract. They then requested license to assemble some 2nd Gen marked guns from those parts plus their own action parts and grips; while waiting for an answer they went ahead and produced some guns and sold them in the US and elsewhere. Colt denied the license and threatened suit to stop production and marketing. These guns occasionally show up in auctions; all the ones I've seen were poorly marked and would not pass for authentic Colt 2nd Gen guns. Williams Gun Sight factory store in Davison, MI had one for a couple of years; don't know if it's still there.

It was still there this past December. 2nd model Dragoon priced @ a hefty $299.
