Bullets, Cases and Even Powder... (dead-horse primer Q)

With the primer shortage dragging on and being worse than the one in the 1990s*, I have noted that bullets and cases and even powder supplies are getting more and more plentiful.

Primers, despite some sporadic reports of "in stock" at various places, remain harder to find than a virgin in a whorehouse.

Any ideas as to why??? I've never had primer stocks seriously more plentiful than my supplies of bullets and powder. Has the reloading culture shifted to stockpiling a lifetime supply of primers and accepting the possibility of scrounging for powder and bullets?

I really can't imagine that many of us being willing to cast bullets and use homemade black powder....

Just curious.

Still waiting for my orders placed in April and May.

*I'm starting to get SICK of knowing what some events and even fads (skateboards) were like the FIRST time around...

I think about a gazillion new gun owners happened along after the election.
And half a gazillion of them have started reloading to save money.
And a quarter gazillion of them are horders!

Then you got the war on 12 fronts, and us arming both sides.

Sooner or later it will all shake out & get caught back up.
Just not sure when.

Until that time I will continue to scrounge brass everywhere, cast my own bullets, and start making black powder.

Seriously, it is starting to get better, but it aint gonna happen over night.

Up here in downeast Maine the last two times I went in to buy 2K of primers they were in stock and more on the shelf. No need to buy large qty. as I will be replacing what I reload as I use them for now. Want to give others the chance to buy some. The price however has doubled in the last year!

Gazillion? That reminds me of a story.

President Obama was in an important meeting with top officials when one of his aids came in and whispered in this ear, " We have bad news, 2 Brazilian shoulders have just been killed in Iraq". The President looked deeply upset and replied, "Just how many is a Brazilian"?

How can you kill a shoulder without killing the soldier too?

Reminds me of how my youngest used to try to pronounce "shoulder" when he was a wee one. Made me laugh. So did that one. Thanks!

I have had the same luck over here in Ellsworth Maine area. I went to Brewers' gun shop (V.R.) first and just about fell on the floor when they told me the price! I told them I was all set ($56 for small rifle). I went over to Willey's and saw they had some in as well and was able to grab them up for $37, still high but much more fair as I'm a regular in both places. After talking to the guy in Willey's I have come to the conclusion that the place in Brewer is completely ripping us regulars off. He told me what they're paying for them and I saw what they're charging for them. I have no problem with shops making a profit but there comes a point when you're being taken advantage of. Ok, sorry bout the rant. So yes, primers are around up here in Maine. Hopefully they'll stay around.

Yeah the prices at VR are a ripoff at best.:fire: I will only purchase there if it is an emergency super fast need.:p There are some at OT Trading post in the $30 area last time I was there.:) I really miss Picards in brewer, can't buy supplies at Lowes unless I want to whittle 2X4's into bullets.:cuss:
