My dad really wants a 638 but if they are going to go on sale and come down in price like the 637 and 642 just did, I think he can wait.

A few months ago, the 637s and 642s were selling for well over $400 but now they can be had for $300-350. If the 638 is going to follow suit, it will be worth the wait but how will I know if it is going to come down in price?

Also, I just bought a S&W 642 and someone said there was a special going on at S&W where they give you free stuff. How does that work and is there a link?

I purchased my 637 last spring. It was on sale then as well, out the door price for NIB was $341. tag in the case was $409. I did get a cool S&W tee shirt. Now if Ohio would just pass the CCW bill, I could carry the thing!

Does shoot great out to about 15 yds. Minimal kick when fitted with Uncle Mike's grips that add a place for your third finger.

With the hammer back (SA mode) you can put that shot anywhere you want.

I was looking for another 386PD or similar when I ran across this one. It's a keeper.
