I recently got a Win Mod 70 xtr Featherweight. Is it possible to have a smith add irons to this rifle? or is there not enough metal in that narrow tapered barrel? Thanks.

Sights can be silver soldered on.
But the problem you may run into is the straight scope style stock on the XTR.
Doubtful if you can get your head down far enough to use them.
