But they have NO influence over the Democratic National Committee:(
The anti-gun policy is a "top-down" phenomenon.:(

The anti-gun policy is a "top-down" phenomenon
... which is why all Democrats on this board need to write the DNC and DLC et al and tell them to stop pushing gun control.
Once we have destroyed gun control as an issue, we can chat about economic policy and other real issues.

I have a friend whose housecat eats a vegetarian diet, which proves that cats aren't mean carnivores.

How odd. Cat's require nutrients that are only found in meat - or in commercial cat food where those nutrients have been artificially added. A cat that tried to live as a vegetarian would die of malnutrition.
Of course, a Dem who tried to be pro-gun would probably have "nutritional" (aid) issues with the DNC.

There are many "conservative" Democrats who support our position on the Second Amendment. Sen. Zell Miller of Georgia is a fine example.
However he, and others like him, are despised by the party's leaders and the majority of members who make up the left-to-far-left wing of the party.
In my book people like Miller should be admired, but at the same time it should be understood that that don't have much (any?) influence on what the Democrat Party does or stands for.
We should all be aware that the Democrats are working their butts off to keep pro-2nd. Amendment judges off the bench. Who ever is confirmed will be the ones who made decisions on 2nd. Amendment cases in the future. This in itself is anough reason to prevent my supporting any Democrat.

Individual rights and the Democratic platform are incongruent. They are the party of "the greater good", they take your money b/c they feel it's in the best interest of society, they try to indoctrinate your children in the public school system b/c they feel it's in the best interest of society, and thats the same reason they want to take your guns. Even if study after study proves all of these measures to be flawed, unconstitutional, and wrong...they will march ahead full steam trying to run the country w/ pure emotion rather than logic.

I have to also add that there ARE pro 2nd Amendment Democrats - Kentucky is full of them. However, the govenor's election next Tuesday pits a pro-gun current Attorney General against a pro-gun Republican congressman and it looks like, at least according to the polls, KY is going to have its first Rep govenor since the late sixties/early seventies. The reasons are a combination of the scandals of our current Dem govenor (fooled around on his wife - not something liked in our political leaders here in KY) and the fact that although people actually do like the Attorney General, they don't trust what will happen when the pressure for the national Democrat party comes down.
Again, Clinton and Ted Kennedy are doing great work handing over state government controls over to the Republicans. The sooner these guys get out of the way, taking Barbara Striesand and James Carvell with them, the quicker the Democrat party can start winning again.

I once inherited a cat from one of these goofs. She had been feeding the cat some kind of politically correct vegan cat food made from rasins and shredded carrots.
When giving me the cat, she said, "He doesn't eat much. But he likes to go outside a lot."
What Miss Politically Correct Cat didn't realize, of course, was that her cat was going outside to stalk and kill and dine al fresco, as was his nature.

Humorously, from the 2000 Dem Platform:
http://www.coloradodems.org/fremont/Platform.html
"Judges and the Supreme Court. We will fight to fill the vacancies on the federal bench to make sure we have enough judges to promptly decide all cases and to end Republican delays in the Senate that have kept qualified nominees, especially women and minorities, waiting literally for years for a Senate vote." :scrutiny:

I would argue that on the whole the Democrats do a better job of supporting civil liberties than most Republicans, the right to bear arms excepted. Law and order Republicans have sponsored some pretty egregious legislation in the name of the drug war and "getting tough on crime" in general.

Micro, you should be aware that a pro-gun Democrat is more a function of geography than philosophy. The national party, staffed by the socialists of megaopolis, rightly see the RKBA as a threat to their advancement of Socialism.

I wish there were some way we could push all the hard core Marxists out into the Green Party or some other suitable receptacle.

Okay, so John Fenton in Ohio and Miller of Georgia are exactly TWO Dems who aren't gun grabbing wackos.
Quick! Give me my ballots back so I can mark them all Dem!
Simple truth is a vote for any Democrat is a vote to keep Schumer, Kennedy, DiFi, Boxer, etc, in positions of power on important committees.
Sorry, no sale.
I'm still never again voting for any Dem for any reason.
If a race comes down to loathsome Dem and loathsome Repub, I'll just write in "Bill the Cat" or the words "Hell No!"

I HAVE voted Democrat for local elections. Only when I am sure of the voting record. If I am not sure of a voting record I go to the Republican candidate. There are other issues in the Democrat platform that I cannot stand. PERIOD:(
Just take the Clinton administration, There were many individuals that pleaded guilty to verious crimes, spiraling out of Whitewater and its related scandals. Five people were found guilty by a jury of their peers, including judge David Hale and both James and Susan McDougal. There was no question about whether the deed had been done. And there was no question that the crimes had benefited the Clintons' campaign and the Whitewater projects. The point of Whitewater is not that the Clintons got rich, but that it could have cost them a small fortune in mounting debt. The government loans, fraudulently obtained, saved them. Some of the people who were sent to prison for these crimes have spoken out, openly contradicting the Clintons' versions of events, but there is no one to hear them and no one who cares. Only the little people go to jail.
I sure don't want another Clinton in the White House. I've had my fill. I would also like to see some of the BIG democrats loose their seats and power such as Kennedy, Biden, Shummer, Boxer who is a sister-in-law of Hillary.
